MLK Day/Week in the Music Room

All students got to listen and sing "We Shall Overcome." We talked about marching, protest, and how music has a place in the fight for equality.

Students 3rd Grade and up listened to "Lift Every Voice and Sing." We talked about the meaning of the words of this powerful song. Here is a great recording with the words:

Many students got to listen to the Maccabeats and Natural 7 sing "Shine a Little Light" in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day:

Congratulations on a wonderful Sing Along!

Superior Community Youth Choir Open to All 4th and 5th Graders!

The Northern Lights Music department is partnering with the UWS Music Education program to bring Youth Choir to our talented music students! This is a free experience, open to all 4th and 5th Graders. See Mrs. Mattson for an enrollment form. Youth Choir is held every Wednesday morning from 8:10-8:40 AM. Choir not held when there is no school.

Congratulations Superior Community Youth Choir Members!

We had nearly 25 Northern Lights singers participate in the December 10th Concert! About 100 Superior School District Elementary students participated. Thanks to Dr. Lois Guderian! Youth Chorus will begin again Wednesday, January 17.

On February 10, our Fourth Grade students will travel to the DECC to see the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra perform their Young People's Concert! This helps our Fourth Graders meet their learning goals for the second trimester.
