A Word From Principal Haynes

Dear Welleby Family,

Our Third Grade Team deserves a HUGE Kudos separate from those mentioned below. The 3rd Grade FSA Scores have come in and they have improved greatly!! The highlights are listed below. We are in the process of analyzing the student scores deeply, but this team deserves recognition for a job well done!!

  • Last year’s proficiency (students scoring at Level 3 or better): 49%
  • This year’s proficiency: 56% (Woo-hoo!!)
  • We tested 114 students last year and 127 students this year (so better results with MORE students)
  • We went from #5 in the Piper Zone elementary schools to #2!!! We are #3 in Sunrise overall
  • We decreased the number of students at Level 1 slightly: down to 20% from 21%
  • Number of level 2 students decreased significantly: down to 24% from 30% (FANTASTIC!!)
  • Increased number at Level 3 proficiency: up to 28% from 26%
  • Decrease in Level 4 proficiency (we want this one to go up too): down to 20% compared to 22%
  • BUT get this!!! Last year we had 1% of students at Level 5 (only 1 student). This year: 9% are Level 5 (that’s about 11 students)!! That’s AWESOME!!!!

We are still anxiously awaiting SIX more test score releases and as that information comes, I will share first with the team then with staff. Thanks to everyone for a job well done!

Have an AMAZING week!!

Outlook is Here!

Thank you for your patience as we transition into Outlook. Remember to make it a habit to ONLY send and respond to messages from Outlook. Check your CAB folder regularly to see if any messages ended up there. Also, continue to check CAB for the Calendar and the Conference until we migrate fully to Outlook.

If you feel you need more assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. Hunt and/or Mr. Bellevy. We are here to support each other in this transition.

Words to Live By

Kudos to you!

Ms. Ali & Mr. Carlos: Please be sure to thank them for standing in the gap in so many ways over the last several months--especially for Ms. Kim. They have truly been troopers!!

Ms. Atelus: Let's hear it for Leslie! Even though it looks like we will be testing until the end of time, she's been instrumental in helping to identify those students we need to administer alternative assessments to with regards to promotion. She's a tireless worker that I'm proud to have on my support team.

Ms. Wilches: She's hammering out those last RTI meetings and IEP meetings. Thank you for working to see what we need to revisit and revamp as we work on our processes for the upcoming school year.

Welleby Family News

Mr. Jordan: He continues to send his love to his Welleby Family. He truly misses his second home and is anxious to be back in the grind. Let's continue to send healing thoughts and prayers his way.
