The Battle of Gonzalez

Battle of Gonzalez began on October 12, 1835, between rebellious texian settlers and a detatchment of Mexican troops.The leaders were John Henry Moore and Francisco de Castarieda. The war began because the american colonists of Gonzalez refused to surrender a small cannon that had been given that settlement in 1831 as defense against the Indians.Casteneda ended up withdrawing from the battle because he knew that he was outnumbered and Texas ended up winning.

Battle of San Jacinto

The battle was fought on April 21,1836 in present day Harris County Texas, was the decisive battle of the Texas Revolution. Led by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's Mexican army in a fight that lasted just 20 minutes. About 630 of the Mexican soldiers were killed and 730 captured, while only nine Texans died.The commanders for Mexico was Santa Anna, Manuel Fernandez Castrillion, Juan Almonte , and Martin Perfecto de Cos.The commanders for the Republic of Texas were Sam Houston, Thomas j. Rusk, James C. Neil, and Mirabeau B. Lamar.

The Battle of Golaid

Was the second skirmish of the Texas revolution.It began on October 10,1835.The leaders were George Collinsworth and Juan Lopez Sandoval.The battle of Golaid began by rebellious Texas settlers attacked the Mexican Texas settlement of Golaid. The battle was won by Mexican forces.

The Battle of Velasco

The Battle of Velasco, a prelude to the Texas revolution and probably the first case of blood shed in the revolution between Texas and Mexico, took place on June 26, 1832.It began when Texan insurgents attacked Fort Velasco, located what was then Velasco and what is now the city of Surfside Beach.The Mexican commander during the conflict Domingo de Ugartechea, tried to stop the texians under John Austin, from transforting a cannon up the Brazos river to attack the city of Anauac.The Texian militia eventually prevuiled over the Mexicans when Ugartechea surrendered after A two day battle.

The Battle of Coleto

Battle of Coleto was fought on march 19-20,1836 during the Golaid campaign of the Texas revolution. This battle was between Mexico and the Republic of Texas.The leaders were James Fannin of Republic of Texas and Jose de Urrea of Mexico.On March 19, Fan in led his men on a leisurely retreat from Golaid, Mexican troops surrounded the texians later in that day. Texans formed a square in the middle of the prairie and attempted to defend their position. Mexican troops launched attacks on 3 separate parts of the square.Texians felt like they were unable to withstand further fighting, on the morning of March 20,the texians surrendered.

The Battle of Alamo

The Battle of Alamo began on February 23,1836.The commandoers were William Travis of Texas, James Bowie of Texas, and Santa Anna of Mexico. At that time, colonel James Bowie and lieutenant colonel William B Travis prepared to defend the Alamo from the Mexicans who were going to take it back.David Crockett arrived in February 1836 to participate in the battle, Texan forces were never more than 200 strong.The Mexicans were estimated to number between 1800 and 6000. On March 6, the texans were beaten.The result was that Texas decided it wanted to be independent from Mexico.
