Spring is finally here and we can't believe that the school year is almost over! This month we will learn our last two letters D and O. We will be talking about the color green and number 9. April brings us fun spring things to learn about such as bugs, butterflies, and flowers. We will be planting flowers and with this we need your help! If any parent would like to donate potting soil, our kiddos would appreciate it. Just send the bag in with your child and we will plant our flowers and watch them grow! Thanks for all your help and donations throughout the year. Without your help we wouldn't be able to do everything that we do!

Kindergarten

We hope you had a great Spring Break! We are happy to be back and are studying Plants & Spring right now. Next, we will talk about eggs, bunnies and other farm animals as we get ready for our field trip in May to Orr Family Farms. Please save the date May 2nd. To be a sponsor you MUST be on the approved volunteer list. This can be done online. If you are planning to attend and help out as a sponsor, please remember to complete the background check at https://bib.com/SECUREVOLUNTEER/MUSTANG-PUBLIC-SCHOOLS/ as soon as possible.Watch for notes with more info and permission slips to come home soon. You will pay for your child's admission through the school but your own admissions at Orr Farms the day of the trip. In ELA we will cover the rest of our letters (Ll, Ww, Vv, Zz, Yy & Qq) and sight words have, help, one, look, out, saw & take. In math we will order, compare and decompose numbers, analize & create 3D shapes and practice addition & subtraction facts. We will go out every day possible so please send jackets and make sure they are labeled with their names. Thank you for checking binders and Friday folders!

1st Grade

Wow, this year is flying by. We will be giving our Spring Math and Reading district assessments this month. Please continue to work with your student at home on reading and math skills. Our 1st grade field trip to the OKC Zoo is scheduled for May 3rd. If you are planning to attend and help out as a sponsor, please remember to complete the background check at https://bib.com/SECUREVOLUNTEER/MUSTANG-PUBLIC-SCHOOLS/ as soon as possible. Since this field trip is a 1st grade trip, we ask that no siblings come so that all sponsors can give their attention to the students they will be chaperoning.

2nd Grade

Happy April! We can’t believe that this year is almost over. It has been so great getting to know and love all of our students. This month, we will be focusing on 2D and 3D shapes, physical maps, summarizing, and restating questions within our answers. Our end of the year benchmark testing will be going on this month, so please make sure your student has plenty of rest and is at school on time. Our 2nd grade field trip is in May. Teachers will be sending out more information about that. If you would like to volunteer for the field trip, please visit this website: https://bib.com/SECUREVOLUNTEER/MUSTANG-PUBLIC-SCHOOLS/ and fill out a background check. You have to apply and be approved BEFORE the trip, and this can sometimes take a few weeks. Keep practicing those math facts and reading 20 minutes a night. Let’s finish this year strong! Thank you for all that you do.

3rd Grade

Oh my goodness! This school year has flown by so quickly. Testing starts next week! The testing dates are April 2nd & 3rd (Reading) and April 9th & 10th (Math). We will be testing in the morning so please make sure your child does not have any conflicting appointments on these days. These tests are not timed yet students will be expected to stay seated anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour and a half. Pioneer Day: We encourage all students at LE to dress western. We send home a note soon about signing up to bring a wagon and supplies (rope/blanket/towels {no stakes, hammers, or weapons). Your child will need to bring a sack lunch and parents are welcome to come...it starts at High Noon. We will play games after our picnic lunch. Famous Oklahoman Report: We have a list of famous Oklahomans that the kids choose from. They will research and write a report on them. There is an outline that we show them how to follow, they do most of it at home. If they dress up like their famous Oklahoman we give them extra credit. Camp DaKani Field Trip: April 24th, we will be outside, wear tennis shoes and sunscreen. Parents are free, kids $10, bring a disposable sack lunch and extra water. This is an outdoor field trip, please no siblings or non-third graders.

4th Grade

Happy Spring! Our state testing dates are 4/2, 4/3, 4/9, & 4/10. We will test from 9:00-12:00. Please do not schedule any appointments during those times and those days. Our lunch times will change for those two weeks. We will inform you of the time. Students need to be well rested and eat a good breakfast. In order to prepare for the tests we want your child to be getting on Study Island and completing lessons.

Health in April will be about talking care of our eyes and ears. We will talk about sunglasses as well as loud noises.
