What Makes LSC Different?

What's it like to be a scholar at LSC?

Founding Parent Spotlight
Meet Shafara & Warren Douglas - Proud Parents of Pierce, a Founding 1st Grade Scholar
What attracted you to LSC? We were attracted to Liberty because of the promise of a new and innovative learning environment. We were definitely excited about the incorporation of STEM and foreign language into the curriculum. We also felt that the principles of the school aligned my family's values as it relates to education.
Why do you believe LSC is the best fit for your child? LSC nurtures the whole child, academically, emotionally and socially. Since attending Liberty, we have seen amazing growth in our child's confidence, and sense of pride in his school.
What has your child enjoyed the most since attending LSC? While Pierce loves everything about Liberty, he definitely enjoys his teachers and Spanish class the most. He is so excited about learning a new language. As a parent, it is heartwarming to see your child excited about learning.
What would you share with those looking to become involved with LSC by donating time or resources? We would encourage them to come experience the Liberty family, but also donate to a school that is shaping the minds of our future leaders.
What's it like to be a part of the LSC team and family?

To be "#LibertyStrong" means we are spending each and every day ensuring that, no matter what, our scholars are in an environment where they will develop good character, be challenged academically, and succeed on their road to and through college and career. Each month, our scholars can earn a special incentive for showcasing those core values. They have created their class gardens and growing healthy foods to see who can build the tastiest salad! Thank you to Profe and our friends at Clemson 4-H for their leadership! |

Founding Parent Spotlight
- What attracted you to LSC? The opportunity to give our child a world-class education in our hometown at a school that is committed to innovation, parent engagement, and a culture of excellence and growth was what attracted us to LSC.
- Why was LSC the best choice for your child? Our son came from a Montessori classroom for a year and a half prior to enrolling at LSC. He had grown a lot in that environment academically and socially, and it was important that he continue along that path. LSC has proven to be a good fit for him because he has continued to grow and excel, which lets us know that his unique needs are being met. It’s also a good fit because the values that are taught and recognized (stand up and own it, power of team, and growth mindset) are in alignment with our values as a family. Lastly, it is a good fit because the team members display genuine care for scholars and everyone on their team.
- What does your child enjoy most about LSC? Gabe really enjoys center time, recess, and the community culture celebrations.
- What would you share with others who might be interested in donating their time or resources to LSC? Education is always a good investment, especially when you know that the resources you give are going toward providing learning opportunities to enrich and enhance students’ educational experiences. LSC is delivering on its promise to bring something “different” to the Sumter community, and we believe it’s only going to continue growing from here.

LSC Uses Project-Based Curricula
Expeditionary Learning (ELA)Through a series of modules, each one in grades K-2 is comprised of two one-hour blocks of content-based literacy (Module Lessons and K-2 Labs) and the third hour of structured phonics (K-2 Reading Foundations Skills Block). Together, these three hours of project-based curriculum teach and formally assess all strands of the Language Arts standards for each grade level. | Eureka (Math) Numbers should add up to more than a right answer. They should inspire aha moments and joyful connections. Eureka Math® set a new standard for rigor, coherence, and focus in the classroom so students gain a deeper understanding of the why behind the numbers, all while making math more enjoyable to learn and teach. | Project Lead the Way (STEM) PLTW provides transformative learning experiences & hands-on STEM lessons for our scholars that align with the Next Generation Science Standards. Through a series of modules, scholars are presented with a real-world problem and must work collaboratively to use the Engineering Design Process to create a prototype that solves the problem. |
