Mrs. Ferrell

I am the Dyslexia Specialist at Herff and Kendall Elementary. I have been in education for

15 years serving in both general education and special education settings. I have provided

dyslexia services for the last 10 years of my career and find my role as a dyslexia

therapist very rewarding. I am a CALT (Certified Academic Language Therapist) and

Licensed Dyslexia Therapist with the State of Texas. In my free time, I enjoy spending

time with my husband, two dogs, and cat. I also like to travel, try new restaurants, and

read.

Please reach out if you have any questions.

My email is marianne.ferrell@boerneisd.net.

Transportation Changes

In order to help dismissal run smoothly, all transportation changes should be communicated with the front office no later than 2:30 p.m. This allows time for these changes to be shared with teachers and students.

If you call after 2:30 p.m. the office will transfer you to the classroom, but it is possible the teacher may not answer if they are teaching.

Early Pickups

If you need to pick up your student(s) early from school you will need to do so by 2:45 p.m. After 2:45 p.m. classes are getting ready for dismissal and students can sometimes be difficult to locate.

Crosswalk Reminders

We have many of our Herff students who use the crosswalk on Esperanza Blvd. to travel to and from school. Student safety is of the utmost importance to us. Please remember the following during morning arrival and afternoon departure.

  • All vehicles should stop at the crosswalk when pedestrians are present.
  • Be on the lookout, especially in the mornings when it is still dark.
  • The crosswalk is also in the school zone, therefore all vehicles should adhere to the posted speed limit sign of 20 mph.

We appreciate your help in ensuring the safety of our students.

Officer Alex has been monitoring the crosswalk and will begin issuing citations this coming week.

Water Bottles

Please remember to send a water bottle with your child each day that is labeled with their name. We will have a water bottle filling station available for students to refill their water throughout the day if needed and an option for students if they do not have a water bottle.

Birthday Treats

We are excited to celebrate student birthdays at school this year. All birthday treats must be store-bought and individually wrapped if possible or in the original container from the store.

All foods brought to campus for special occasions such as birthdays MUST have an FDA approved label with ingredients and allergens legibly listed.

It is best to have treats delivered to the office by your child's lunch so they can be eaten in the afternoon.

Birthday Marquee Announcements

Don't forget to celebrate your student on their birthday with an announcement on our marquee! Please purchase your announcement at least two weeks prior to the birthday date. The child's first name only will run on the marquee for their birthday. All funds go to back to support our school!

Birthday Book Club

Starting this year, all Herff Hawks are invited to participate in our Birthday Book Club. When a $15 donation is made to the Herff Elementary Library for the Birthday Book Club, a new book will be placed in the library in your child’s honor. During his/her birthday month, your child will have the opportunity to personally select a book from a collection of new/uncirculated hardcover library books. A special “Birthday Book Club” bookplate featuring your child’s name, birthdate, and the year the book was donated will be placed in the front of the book of his/her choice, AND they will be the first person to check out the new book!

If you are interested in celebrating your child’s birthday in this way, please complete the

form below and return it to Mrs. Burton in the library.
