IMPORTANT MESSAGE!!!!!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am writing you to let you know that last night a Duluth Police officer spotted a coyote running through the parking lot of Duluth Middle School, and he posted what he saw on the department's Facebook page. Although the sighting happened overnight and there have not been any coyote sightings on campus during school hours, we are taking a number of precautions to ensure student safety.
1)The school's SRO has checked the school grounds for coyotes.
2)The custodial staff has removed any trash that may attract wildlife.
3)The school's PE teachers and staff have been notified of the sighting and have been asked to have a heightened awareness when taking students outside.
Because coyote sightings are not unusual in Duluth, we will continue to monitor the situation and take additional steps, if needed, to ensure student safety.
