Please check your child daily!

Please remember that we need to work together to keep our students safe. We all have different daily things to do and we all have unique family situations. We cannot monitor our students outside of school and there is a the need for social interaction whether it be a family or friends BBQ or teenagers who meet with their friends. Our students being safe at school starts with our students being safe to come to school. We are doing everything we can to keep students safe throughout the day. This does meet quite the challenge. We are constantly working making sure masks are on and when they come off are stored appropriately. The 6' distancing challenges many students, especially those that see each other out side of school and do not understand why they need to maintain the distancing in school. PLEASE review our protocols with your child daily. The fact is, at some point, COVID-19 may enter our community and we are ready respond promptly. Our plan works with the Archdiocese COVID-19 task force who works in conjunction with IDPH and as well as the city and state health departments. Situations will be assessed and if necessary, a class may be quarantined, or in even possibly the entire school. Our commitment remains to provide in person instruction providing it is safe to do so.

Please do you part by making sure your child has a clean mask to wear to school as well as a clean mask as back up at school. Take their temperature before they leave for school and ask them how they are feeling. We would prefer if they told you they do not feel well and you can keep them at home, rather than telling us and having to be sent back home.

If your child has been exposed to anyone that has tested positive for COVID, they must quarantine for 14 days. If this is the situation, then let us know and they can join the virtual school during the quarantine.

Please use good judgement and it is better to be safe than sorry! We all need to work together to keep our school up and running healthy!

Just as a reminder, any student who misses 3 days of school is required to have a doctor's note to return to school.

Virtual School

This week we started students learning in our Virtual School. This is a brand new effort by our Divine Providence Teachers and Staff. Overall, our first week has gone really well! Students are logging in and seeing instruction by their classroom teachers.

Just as a reminder: Any Virtual students wishing to come back into the physical classroom must give us a 2 week notice of the move.

If your child is in the school building and would like to move to the virtual school, please let Mrs. Heil know and they may start immediately. Please refer to the above, that one that move is made, they must attend the virtual school for at least 2 weeks.

Introducing Mrs. Heil

Mrs. Heil has joined our teaching staff to be our Virtual School Learning Coordinator. Most likely all virtual school families have met with Mrs Heil at the orientation meeting. While your child's regular teacher is your main contact, you may receive communication from them or Mrs Heil. If you have a concern about your child in Virtual school, please direct your communication to Mrs. Heil at bheil@divineprovidenceschool.org.

Dear Parents/Guardians;

The USDA issued an announcement on August 31, 2020 that all school children will be eligible to receive free meals from September 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. Effective immediately, then, your child(ren) will be able to receive all of their meals served at school for FREE, regardless of whether they are attending in-school or participating in eLearning from home!

You will be able to pick up two (2) days’ worth of meals at your school every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for your eLearning students. In addition, you can pick up meals for your children at home ages 2 years to 18 years … even those not enrolled in the school. Meal entrees that need to be heated at home will include heating instructions inside each of the individual two day meal boxes. All meals include a carton of milk. Orders for the second menu choice will be converted to the primary menu choice for students who have ordered that option for those first two weeks unless we hear differently. Also, the printed menu initially may be subject to change should quantities increase significantly as a result of this last minute benefit provided by the USDA.

You do not need to complete an application for free or reduced price meals at this time. We will provide guidance at a later date to inform you if or when applications for meal benefits will need to be completed.

All parents/students who paid for meals served and/or ordered after September 1, 2020 will have a credit in their account, or you may contact the food service staff at your school regarding obtaining a refund.

We encourage you to pick up free meals at school for your eLearning children and any other children at home, and/or place an order for your child(ren) in school.

Please contact your school’s food service coordinator directly if you have any questions.
