From the Principal...

Hello Seton Community,

Sunday, January 31 marks the beginning of Catholic Schools Week. While this year's celebrations will not be the same as we have come to expect, we are grateful for all we have accomplished this school year. With the blessing of the Holy Spirit and our amazing school community, we have stayed safely open for our students. Our dress-up days are as follows:

  • Monday, February 1- sports team dress-up day
  • Tuesday, February 2- crazy hat and plaid shirt day
  • Wednesday, February 3- red, white, and blue day
  • Thursday, February 4- wacky sock and tie dye day
  • Friday, February 5- dress your Sunday best day

We continue to grow our Catholic school program and we have welcomed six new students this month. Catholic education at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School is truly an exceptional experience. Please continue to spread the word as registration for the 2021-2022 school year is underway. Registration materials can be found at http://www.sheboyganseton.org/registration/ and financial aid is available.

In addition to our celebration video below, Seton Catholic is in the process of recording a virtual tour that will be available this spring. While we will continue to schedule school tours with interested families, this new tool will be available for a virtual walk through our building and classrooms.

Thank you again for all you do for our Seton School Community.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, pray for us.

Sincerely,

Dr. Stephanie Nardi, Principal

2020-2021 Seton Catholic Mid-Year Celebration

20-21 Mid Year Celebration

Seton Catholic Winter Assessment Data

Our students recently completed winter assessments in reading and math. The three charts below illustrate our student scores on national norms. Green indicates "At/Above Benchmark." Blue is "On Watch." Yellow is "Intervention" needed, and red is "Urgent Intervention" needed. These scores include all students---regular education, special education, enrichment, and students who are new to us this month.

We have also looked at our winter data from the lens of the WI Forward Exam standards. The WI Forward exam is taken by all students in grades 3-8 and is a rigorous test with very high standards. Our winter data as it compares to Wisconsin standards, rather than national norms, is below the three pie charts. As you can see, we made gains in both reading and math from fall to winter.

In reading, 50% of our students are in the top 60 percentile of students and 22% are in the norms (40-60%) of what is expected at their grade level. In math, 50% of our students are in the top 60 percentile of students and 28% are in the norms (40-60%) of what is expected at their grade level. Again, this includes regular education students, special education students, and enrichment students.

We continue to see steady progress in our students even with the spring virtual requirement last school year. Please know that students are more successful when they are in school. While quarantines and illness can't be helped, vacations and other unexcused absences do affect learning. We appreciate all you do to help keep us face to face. Thank you for working with us as a school community.

COVID-19 Information

You may have heard in the news that the CDC has released options to reduce the length of COVID-19 quarantines. I have attached the Sheboygan County Recommendations for your review. Seton Catholic will be using those recommendations as listed below. We will maintain a 14 day quarantine as we are in a setting with many people and the potential for spread. Please be diligent with safety precautions as we are hoping to stay face to face for your children.

14 day no symptoms, no test option:

This is a 14-day quarantine from Seton School. The quarantine begins with the start of symptoms or the day of last contact with a positive case. The student can return to school without a doctor note after 14 days and if he/she has no symptoms. These days will be tracked in the office.

7 day no symptoms, negative test option:

Quarantine can end after day 7 of quarantine with a negative test and no symptoms if the test was taken no sooner than day 6 of the quarantine. The quarantine begins with the start of symptoms or day of last contact with a positive case. The student can return to school with a dated confirmation of a negative test and no symptoms. The days will be tracked in the school office.

Please note that household contacts are handled differently as noted on the recommendations below.

Seton Faith Development Committee

Consider joining the Seton Catholic Faith Development Committee. The committee is responsible for many of the Catholic experiences that our students have throughout the school year: first Friday Rosary, October Month of Mary recognition, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton's Feast Day celebration, and others.

This school year, the committee would like to begin work on the following three goals as determined by our Seton School Board.

1. With the assistance of our Faith Development Committee we will develop a comprehensive plan for faculty faith formation that includes at least one annual opportunity for retreat and and one annual opportunity for service by the end of the 2020-2021 academic year to begin in the 2021-2022 academic year.

2. With the assistance of our Faith Development Committee we will develop a plan for at least one student-led Mass at each of our three Northside Parishes to begin in the spring of 2021. (May need to be delayed until the fall of 2021.)

3. With the assistance of our Faith Development Committee we will explore at least three options for parent faith formation to begin in the 2021-2022 academic year.

If you are interested in joining this good work or would like more information, please contact Dr. Nardi at nardis@sheboyganseton.org.
