Career Launch Kalamazoo Apprenticeship Program Unveiled
At the Career Launch Kalamazoo kick-off event on Monday, students and their parents learned about the new youth apprenticeship opportunities from our community and educational and employer partners: The City of Kalamazoo, The Kalamazoo Promise, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, MANN+HUMMEL Flowserve and Bronson Methodist Hospital.
They also heard about the jobs forecast from W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research and Mayor David Anderson's reflections about his unconventional career path.
Superintendent Dr. Rita Raichoudhuri said "Providing opportunities for students to disrupt the cycles of poverty is why I do what I do. And Career Launch Kalamazoo is designed to do just that."
KC Choirs Plan 'Live and In Color' Cabaret April 22-23
The Kalamazoo Central High School choirs will be presenting their 2022 "Live and In Color" Cabaret at 7 p.m.April 22 and 23 and 3 p.m. April 24 at the school. Featuring singing and dancing from the Kalamazoo Central choirs, as well as several student solos and small group acts, this full-spectrum cabaret includes songs that celebrate all the colors of our world and our lives. Tickets, $10 and $8, can be purchased at the door.
M-Step Around the District
Woods Lake Elementary held an M-Step pep rally and Washington Writers' Academy organized a video pep rally to encourage students to do their best on the state tests administered this week.
To encouraged attendance and participating in testing, Teaching and Learning Services organized raffles for test takers. Kalamazoo Public Schools would like to thank the following businesses and organizations for their donations of coupons, vouchers and merchandise for the student raffles:

On May 3, the Kalamazoo community will have the opportunity to vote on a bond proposal. If voters approve this bond proposal, there is expected to be NO increase in the tax rate, and the bond would provide $197.1 million to fund capital improvements in our schools.
