First day on the playground.... BEST day ever!
Very Important Information:
1. St. Patrick's Day Snack Time
This Thursday, March 17th is St. Patrick's Day. You are invited to contribute to our St. Patrick's Day themed snack time. We will enjoy some yummy GREEN snacks in honor of the day. If you'd like to send in something green for us to enjoy, please do so on Thursday! This could be anything like: green grapes, green honeydew melon, celery, green apples, broccoli, seaweed, cucumbers, pickles, snap peas..... We will use these snacks for a creative writing activity - and then our class will enjoy a yummy snack!
Students can also wear green on Thursday!
2. St. Baldrick's Donations
Student Council is fighting childhood cancer. Please see more details below and
SEND IN DONATIONS!
3. Homework Packet
I hope your 2nd graders enjoyed a week off of homework and were able to get quite a bit done on their Cultures Around the World project! I have already received a few powerpoint presentations in my email, and they look fantastic! Remember... this is due on Friday, March 25th. This week your student is coming home with a regular homework packet.
4. Study Island Extra Credit
Uploaded and ready for your students! Remember... this is more practice with the skills we are learning together in the classroom. It's a great way for your child to practice at home!
5. Watch Out for Germs!
This past week we have had a handful of students out with various stomach bugs and viruses. Please keep an eye on your child during this seasonal transition. Please remember that if your child displays symptoms such as a fever or vomiting, they need to be symptom-free for 24 hours before they can return to school. Thanks for your help in keeping FSA healthy!
6. Happy Pi Day!

7. S.T.E.A.M. Camp at FSA
Make sure you check out the information Mr. Sener sent about the summer camp opportunities here at FSA. This is a fun way to spend a few weeks of the summer learning and exploring!
St. Baldrick's Donations
Pi Day!
The FSA PVO is hosting Pi Day during lunch this Monday 3/14.
We will have a slice of pizza "Pi" and bottled water available for every student on Monday for a donation of $2.00. Please remember to send in your $2.00 donation with your students!

Curriculum Corner
Reading/Language Arts:
This week we will be reading a story called "Craig the Carpenter". We will re-visit Cause and Effect in stories, and practice identifying and describing different cause and effect situations from our reading. We will also be discussing prefixes and suffixes and how they help us understand words.
Ms. P's Math Class:
We have been working hard on adding and subtracting using mental math. Your students are doing a fantastic job! We decompose, round, and use number lines to help solve problems quickly! We will spend this week practicing mental math. Please use your child's homework packet as their study guide for the assessment on Friday, March 18th!
Ms. Minor's Math Class:
Ms. Minor's Math class has been enjoying our study on fractions. Our class will continue to recognize different ways to represent fractions, identify equivalent fractions, and practicing reducing large fractions! We will also begin practicing adding fractions together with the same denominators.
Science:
We are almost done with our unit on Plants and Animals. This week we will work on our study guide in class. Students will take their test on Thursday, March 17th! Students will bring home their study guys on Tuesday night.
Social Studies:
We are continuing our culture study in Social Studies! We are learning all about people and the different cultures all around the world. This week we will share about our own cultures. Don't forget... your students should be researching and working on their Cultures Around the World Project!
