Seniors: It's time for FAFSA
Free Application for Federal Student Aid
What is the FAFSA?
The FAFSA is the Free Application For Federal Student Aid. This form is used to determine the amount of money a family is expected to contribute to the price of attending a post secondary institution. The results of the FAFSA are used in determining student grants, work study, and loan amounts. The FAFSA is traditionally done during the months of January-February-March of the year your student is graduating. That's right now! For more information on WHAT the FAFSA is, check out THIS WEBSITE.
How can I get more information about the FAFSA?
Both Liberty High and Liberty North hosted a Financial Aid & Local Scholarship Night. If you did not attend these events, HERE is a wonderful presentation, prepared by Robin Stimac, of Maple Woods Community College. His presentation outlines the steps for Completing the FAFSA.
Are there some videos I can check out to help me understand the FAFSA?
Yes. Check them out HERE!
I'm not really sure I can do this by myself...
If you need additional help completing the FAFSA, check out a FAFSA Frenzy event and receive individualized support from a financial aid representative. These events are free to attend and are located all across the state of Missouri!
Ok. So how do I get started?
Filling out the FAFSA is completely free. Be sure you are using the correct website as some so-called "FAFSA websites" are not REALLY free. You will want to use THIS free and completely safe website: https://fafsa.gov
