Principal's Message
Dear Dolvin Families –
I have a few updates for you this week, and a reminder that we have a long weekend coming up. Students and staff will be out for President’s Day on Monday, and then students will also be home on Tuesday while staff have a Professional Development day. We will welcome students back to school on Wednesday, February 22nd.
Staffing
- I am pleased to welcome back Mrs. Martha Holladay as our .5 Parent Liaison! She rejoined the staff on Monday, February 13th.
- We have earned an additional .6 TAG teacher and have hired Ms. Ann Scott Hanks for the position. Ms. Hanks brings a wealth of experience to the position. The TAG teachers will be communicating with parents regarding scheduling, and start dates for new TAG students.
SGC Nominations
The purpose of a School Governance Council is to provide parents, school staff, and community members with a leadership role through monitoring and implementation of the strategic plan. Members serve two-year terms. Time commitment varies, but members could expect 1-3 hours per month including meetings, trainings, and any special events.
Candidate declarations are currently open. Dolvin will have one parent seat open for the 2023-2024 school year. If you would like more information about Fulton’s Charter system or would like to access the Candidate Declaration Form, please use this LINK.
"As someone new to the area in 2020, joining the School Governance Council (SGC) at Dolvin Elementary was a great way to quickly meet a few of the incredible teachers and staff that my kids were interacting with daily, led by the wonderful Ms. Cooke and Mr. Stein, and it only required about an hour of my time per month, which was an important aspect for me to consider as a working parent. I highly recommend the SGC to any parent looking to better understand what specifically the school is doing to support their children, and you'll even get to make suggestions to things you think could be improved upon, as well as approving various budget expenditures. I'm grateful for the opportunity SGC gave me and am better for having been part of it!" - Logan Toskey, parent and SGC member since '21
Annual Parent Perception Survey
Your opinion matters. Fulton County Schools encourages parents to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey between February 13th and March 10th. The survey is anonymous and confidential and should take about 15 minutes to complete. Last year, Dolvin’s parent participation rate was 31% - I hope to greatly exceed that number this year! Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. Additionally, students in grades 4-12 will take the Annual Student Perception Survey between February 13th and 24th during the school day.
School Satisfaction Survey
Just a reminder to provide “anytime” feedback on Dolvin through the School Satisfaction Survey link.
Your proud principal,
Karen

A VOCABULARY PARADE IS COMING SOON!!
Parents we are excited about our 2nd annual vocabulary parade that will be happening Thursday, March 2nd!!
Everyone will be participating in the vocabulary parade. The first part of the parade will showcase our kindergarten, first, and second grade students showing the third, fourth, and fifth grades students their vocabulary words. The second part of the parade will feature the third, fourth, and fifth graders showing their words to the kindergartners, first, and second graders. We even have some special guests coming to our event!
This event will be live streamed! Click here to watch on March 2nd.
How can you help your child get ready for the parade?
First, help your child select a NEW rigorous vocabulary word. Second, when you've chosen the vocabulary word think about ways to transform it into a costume. Here are some #DolvINcredible examples of ways your child can bring their vocabulary word to life:
