I hope everyone has had a wonderful week. Our 5th grade students finished their second of three STAAR tests and I have no doubt that they did an incredible job.

Sadly, we had to cancel our See You at the Creek event that was scheduled for Wednesday due to weather. With that being said, we are thankful we can move some of the fun to our Field Day event.

Did you read that right? Yes- we are happy to announce that we will be having Field Day on May 16th. We are hoping to have a lot of parent volunteers to ensure this day is a success for our students. Be on the lookout to sign up to help on this day. We have inflatables galore and a dunk tank for students to "dunk" their teachers. We cannot wait!

As we head into next week, we have our final STAAR test in math and we also have an opportunity to show our appreciation for our wonderful teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.

If you have any questions as we head into our final four weeks, please reach out. I know it will be fast and furious and we are here to help if you need anything.

Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).

Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We are going to make our teachers feel like they are famous and roll out the red carpet. Here is what we have planned for our amazing teachers.

Join Lovejoy Volleyball on April 30th for a spring clinic to raise funds for the prestigious Ann Kang Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii. This clinic will be run by National Gatorade Player of the Year, Averi Carlson and our 2023 Varsity Team. K-6th grade will go from 1:00-3:00 and 7th and 8th grade will for from 3:30-5:30, both at LHS. Spots will be $125 each with a t-shirt included. Be sure to sign up quickly as there are limited spots for each session.
