Miss Vaughn's Class

Week of February 8-12

Hello Families!! 1st grade is smoothly transitioning into the middle of February! We are working closely to meet our goals as Student Led Conferences are coming up SOON!

Reading- We are super excited to be writing about our reading! We have used Post-It notes in our books to share our thinking with a partner! Please ask your child about where they decided to "stop and jot" in their reading to show their thoughts!

Math- We will be starting our new style of rotation in math on Tuesday February 9! In unit 7 we will be working on fact families and attributes of shapes. In the past week we took some time to look back at where some of our gaps were in our learning and REVIEWED different units! It has helped us stay strong with the skills we have learned this year.

Writing- We are diving deep into writing reviews! We have picked our "blue ribbon" piece from our collection and wrote to convince our readers of our choices! Collections will be sent home Friday February 5th!

Science/Social Studies- We are moving into a unit all about the history of American in Social Studies and we will learn all about President Lincoln and Washington in the month of February. In Science, we are learning all about habitats and how animals use their habitat to meet their basic needs.

Our Sweetheart Party is Friday, February 12! Please help us celebrate our last party in 1st grade by volunteering! Contact me to see how you can help!
