It's Been a Great Week at Hoover!
Student Council - Caught Being Good!
Hoover's Student Council is sponsoring a "Caught Being Good" drawing on the last day of school before winter break. Students who demonstrate positive behavior can earn tickets from school staff to enter into a drawing for a new hover board. Two hover boards will be given away! Thank you student council for your fun idea to end first semester! Parents will need to come to school to pick up the hover boards for the winning students.
MATH MASTERS
Hoover students have been working hard to master all of their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division math facts 1-12. As students are able to complete a 5 minute challenge with 95% accuracy, they will receive a math master charm for each operation. Once they have mastered all four operations they will be declared Hoover Math Masters and receive a Hoover Math Master charm. Students have until the end of this semester to complete the challenge and earn charms, which will be awarded in January. So keep practicing those math facts!
Notes from the Nurse
December 2-8th is National Influenza Vaccination Week. Whether you get the flu shot or not, the effects go beyond you. It can affect the lives of people around you too. Influenza is contagious and can lead to serious complications. Some of the main symptoms of the flu include cough, sore throat, fever, headache, feeling tired, and body aches. The best way to protect you and your loved ones is by vaccinating each year. Germs are everywhere and some of the dirtiest places are those that we touch numerous times each day: remotes, cellphones, door handles, appliances, etc. Washing your hands frequently and disinfecting these common spots are also a few ways we can knock out some of these germs. Let’s fight the flu together. If you have not received your flu shot this year, it is not too late. CVS, Kroger, and Walgreen's are just a few of the local places where you can walk-in and receive your flu shot. If you have any questions about where to get flu shots, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Sabrina Cyr BSN, RN
