Message from your Literacy Coach
Exciting iReady News: After analyzing our Winter diagnostic more closely, I wanted to share some really exciting gains that we are showing across grade levels. Our data wall is updated to reflect these positive changes. You'll see the Needs Assessment for your grade level and the Intervention Screener that breaks down the number of students in red, yellow, and green.
We are making some AMAZING progress on our foundational skills {phonological awareness, phonics, high frequency words, etc.} thanks to our LLI kits and iReady usage. Our next steps will include building language skills like vocabulary and word relationships. I know that we have the Very Best Educators here and this will a challenge we can tackle together!
Kindergarten
Our kinders are making huge gains in the areas of phonics and high-frequency words. The table below shows the number of students below level in these areas. We saw a 6% decrease in students below grade level in phonics and a 9 point decrease for high-frequency words.
1st Grade
Our first grade team is rocking in the areas of phonological awareness, phonics, and high-frequency words. They saw double-digit gains in these areas!
2nd Grade
Second graders have been working hard to build their foundational skills and vocabulary. We saw a huge drop {16%} in students scoring below grade level in phonological awareness. Way to go!
3rd Grade
We are building readers with strong foundational skills in 3rd grade!
4th Grade
Thanks to our amazing 4th grade team and our LLI Interventions with iReady we are closing some HUGE foundational gaps in 4th grade. This is going to lead big gains in comprehension once we develop our language and vocabulary skills.
5th Grade
Fifth grade is working hard to close the gap on our foundational skills. They saw a 2% drop in students scoring below level in phonics.
