Job Shadow Experience
- Everyone at the studio was really nice and answered all of my questions (which I had a lot of) in depth. They were all knowledgeable about the industry and provided good information.
- I went on a tour of the studio, and they explained how everything worked. I saw all parts of the studio that makes production happen.
- The station manager told me about his career path from when he first started up until now at his current job.
- It was helpful seeing what the job was like behind the scenes. After this experience, I know now that I don't want to go into television production. I still want to be in broadcasting, but I'm thinking radio might be more what I'd like to do.
- Getting to do this was really easy. From start to finish, there were only about 7 emails between me, Mr. Larsen, and the station manager.
Shadowing experiences are available for all seniors, juniors, and sophomores. Please fill out this form if you'd like to do a job shadow yourself.
November Golden Pen
Congrats to November's Golden Pen winner, Kara Satkowski, for her winning submission, a short story titled, "The Last Step."

Genoa High School’s Madelyn Lands Wins 2018 Cookie Bake-Off
Congratulations to Maddy Lands for being chosen as the GRAND PRIZE WINNER in the 2018 Penta Career Center Cookie Bake-Off! In Penta Career Center’s 6th Annual holiday themed baking competition, 24 students competed to be selected as the BEST cookie of the year. Maddy worked hard to create her s’mores inspired cookie and the twelve judges decided her cookie topped the rest. Cookies were judged on uniformity of shape and size, crispness or chewiness, blending of ingredients, and balance of flavors. The Blade gave the top three finishers prize packages that included insulated lunch bags and movie passes, plus publication of their recipes. Congratulations, Maddy! You made GHS PROUD!
