Theater Production "Clue" is coming soon
Tickets are on sale now for Liberty Lightning's Production of Clue on Stage!
The LHS Drama Department, better known as Liberty Lightning Theatre, has been working tirelessly to create the 1950's mansion that sets the stage for an evening of mystery ... and murder! Based on the classic board game, six guests are invited to a dinner party at the home of Mr. Boddy. Wadsworth, the butler, Yvette, the maid, and the Cook have their instructions for the evening, when Mr. Boddy throws a wrench - and other lethal weapons - into their plans.
Tickets are available for purchase in the front office, during some lunch periods, at the door prior to each performance, or from any cast member. Adults are $15 and Students are $10 with ID.
Join us for performances on Friday, November 9 at 7:30pm; and Saturday, November 10 at 2:00pm and 7:30pm at the Liberty High School Auditorium.
Clue is a comedy, but due to the subject of murder, some adult language, smoke, haze, and theatrical weapons and violence, this show may not be appropriate for very small children. Parental Guidance is suggested.

Staff Spotlight-Lisa Bream-Registrar
Lisa Bream, Registrar Secretary, was born in Ottumwa, IA and raised in Jacksonville, IL and moved back to Iowa City at the age of 12. She attended Northwest Junior High and graduated from West High School. She has a husband, Ron and three children, and one grandson who lives in North Carolina. Lisa, enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with family. Lisa has worked for the ICCSD school district since 2002 at Penn Elementary, West High and now Liberty High School. Her job consists of helping register new families, receiving records from other schools and sending records out for students who have moved, running report cards and transcripts. Her favorite job is meeting new families! "I like welcoming new families to Liberty and helping them get enrolled in school. I like getting to know other cultures and talking with the families. I like getting to know the students." One of her most asked questions is "why did you leave West High?" Lisa says, " How often do you get to help start a new school? I love West High but I never want to settle. I always want to stretch myself and learn new things." Best advice she would offer? "Never let fear of trying something new hold you back from trying. Whether in the classroom, job opportunities or life. Be open to new opportunities and you will be surprised how your life will continue to be blessed!"
Lightning Bots
Saturday, October 20, Liberty's new FTC robotics team, the Lightning Bots, attended their first meet of their inaugural season. Along with 10 other teams from the Iowa City area, the Lighting Bots are members of the 2018-2019 FIRST Tech Challenge's Van Allen league.
Team members are working on this year's game, Rover Ruckus, building a robot from scratch and programming it to perform specific tasks laid out in this year's game manual. By the end of the season in mid-January, students are aiming to have their robot run autonomously for 30 seconds: landing on the playing surface and placing a team marker in a specific location. During the driver controlled period they will aim to have their robot collect 'minerals' for their alliance.
The FTC program has a strong focus on collaboration both within the team and among teams in the league. This year, the Lightning Bots are being mentored by FTC alumni at the University of Iowa and University of Virginia as well as members of the West high school robotics team.
The Lighting Bots next meet is Saturday, November 3rd at Kirkwood regional center. Looking forward to more fun and robotic excitement!
