A Peek at Our Week

Hello Families!

It has been a long time since our last newsletter. I hope that you had a fun and restful break, even if the weather was not fully cooperating! Thank you for taking the time to visit our classroom and speak to me during parent-teacher conferences. It was wonderful to share the progress that your children are making. We are in the last stretch of first grade now, can you believe it?! Let's make it the best last months. I am so excited to share some of the amazing learning that has been going on in our class as well as some reminders and special events we have going on. Enjoy!

A few pics to share...

Reminder- We are collecting coins for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society all week!

Fundations and Word Study

Our class continues to explore long vowels! This week we are working on /oi/ patterns as in boy, coin and coil. Be on the lookout for additional homework that helps your child recognize long vowel patters this week. Our trick words continue to help us grow stronger in our reading and writing so please make sure to practice them nightly!

What are we Reading?

This week we continued our read aloud of the Roald Dahl classic, Matilda. The children are really hooked on this book, even with the evil headmistriss, Miss Trunchbull. We should be finishing up this week and ready for a new adventure soon!

Happy Reading!
