Pamlico Sound

The Pamlico sound is located in the outer blanks and is part of the albemarle-Pamlico sound system
Importance
The Albemarle-Pamlico Sound supports a variety of habitats including wetlands, rivers, and creeks. In these habitats, there lives a diversity of organisms. 90% of the fish and shellfish caught by fisherman rely on the estuaries for fishing, crabbing, shrimping, and oystering.

Threats
The Ablemarle- Pamlico sound is facing serious threats from increasing pollution, rain water eroding the land, and people wiping out the animal habitats. Each problem alone is troublesome, but if we all work together than we can save the sound and its resources.
