Mrs. Baker's Class

according to Mrs. Solis

What's going on...

We had a busy week! From our field trip to the changes in the moon for our science unit and Kona Ice! Here's what we are up to next week:

Math: We will begin our fraction unit. We will partition objects into equal parts and name the parts using words (halves, fourths, & eighths). We will explain that the more fractional parts used to make a whole, the smaller the part; and the fewer the fractional parts, the larger the part. We will use concrete models to count fractional parts beyond one whole using words and recognize how many parts it takes to equal one whole.

Reading: We will continue practicing our “Read Like a Third Grader” strategies. Students will work independently to complete reading passages and questions.

Writing: We have been writing so many stories that our folders are bursting at the seams! This week it is time to choose one to publish! After reviewing what it means to revise and edit the students will work through this process with their chosen story and turn it into a finished book!

Science: Our focus this week is charting weather patterns. We will us weather tools to measure temperature, document the clouds, and determine the wind conditions. We will also make connections between the weather conditions and clothing choices, appropriate activities, and best modes of transportation.

Nikhila is our spotlight stallion this week! Congratulation Nikhila!
