February 20, 2024
It sure feels like the groundhog’s prediction of an early spring is coming true! As we head into a warmer week (with sunny weather and high temperatures in the 50s), please help us in preparing your child(ren) for their time outdoors. While the temperatures will rise during the day, the morning temperatures will still be cold. Be sure to send your child(ren) to school with layers so they can be dressed appropriately for their various times outside. Some classes go out for their additional recess in the morning, while others go out in the afternoon. This is in addition to the lunch recess that all students have midday. Students will be expected to dress according to the “feels like” temperature at these various times of day. Here are the guidelines we use:
50-60 degrees: Long sleeves
40-50 degrees: Jacket
<40 degrees: Winter jacket, hat/mittens
In addition, please be mindful of your child(ren)’s footwear. This time of year, our playground and the surrounding fields can be quite wet after the melting snow. Closed-toed shoes are always beneficial (rain boots are even better)!
We are excited about the opportunity to breathe the fresh spring air and stretch our legs!
