WMS Weekly Bulletin
October 1-6, 2018
Many of you know that I played sports growing up. Once I got into middle school and played for my school teams, people began calling me a “student-athlete” and explaining that I now a greater responsibility to upholding expectations as a leader on campus. I think I knew what it meant at the time, but I didn’t realize how far-reaching those responsibilities carried.
In the world of professionals, I would argue that as educators, we have that same responsibility to be above reproach as a student-athlete does among their peers in a school. We not only have to act in such a way as to educate our scholars academically, but also to provide an example socially and emotionally with our day-to-day behaviors.
This week, you will receive an email that begins our second year in CSISD of ethics training with ProEthica. There will be a couple of modules for returning CSISD folks and four modules for new-to-CSISD staff. As you go through the quick lessons, keep in mind that it’s not just a check in the box for completing the task, it’s about providing you with the training and knowledge to make choices you can be ok with and that will certainly help you act so there is no question of your intent in any action.
Next Monday, we will have discussions in small groups to look at different scenarios and some actual court cases dealing with educator ethics. I am looking forward to having these discussions and learning through the experience with everyone.
Go Warhawks! And, remember, you belong here.

Daily Announcements
1) Add a remove date at the bottom in the Speaker Notes area of the slide (will not display in slide-show). If I would like it to run through Tuesday, Oct. 2 please put "Remove on 10/3" at the bottom so editors know when to remove it. You may always remove a slide once it is done as well, but this will help to ensure we have accurate information being displayed during Advocate classes.
2) Remove any language referring to non-number days of the week. Using terms such as tomorrow, next week, etc. necessitates updating the slide continually. Instead, choose something such as "Beginning Oct. 7th," or "During the week of Oct 7-10....".

EdCampCSTX - October 13
What is an EdCamp?
EdCamps are free PD built around conversations instead of presentation. The sessions are created on the morning of the event by the people who attend, for the people who attend.
Highlights:
- The people you meet (and the ways it's easy to stay connected throughout the year)
- The power of conversations (as opposed to presentations) for professional learning
- The chance to learn about whatever I want from educators throughout the day (& to learn SO much throughout one morning)
- The fantastic giveaways at the end of the day (i.e. great books, subscriptions to services, even conference registrations)
Register to attend on the EdCampCSTX website --> https://edcampcstx.weebly.com/
To get CSISD comp time for attending this event, register in Eduphoria HERE.
And, WMS Staffulty who attend will get a pass for jeans for the ENTIRE week of October 15-19!
