Still looking forward to celebrating Milestones - and an ask
What a great week to be with students! They have been focused very diligently on Milestones testing. I am excited about seeing the results, as I am quite sure the results are going to be amazing!
I also need to make a request: in recent days we have learned some students are using very inappropriate language that can range from sexist, to racist, to just hateful. Our students are still learning how to regulate emotions and when lashing out, students may seek out hurtful language to use.
I am proud of our No Place for Hate work, Be the Voice initiatives, and numerous efforts to celebrate the diversity at Taylor Road. Here is my request:
Please talk with your students. If they hear something, say something to you and to the adults at Taylor Road. Of course this language is not tolerated, and we need to work together to educate our middle-school learners how to better interact. We are a team - and remember our vision at Taylor Road: for everyone to be proud to be a part of this community.
As always - please take time to Shout Out to a staff member!
PBIS values: Be responsible -- Be respectful - Be proactive
SHARE -- See it. Hear it. And Report it Every time.
Thank you for sharing your family with us.
Remember to follow us on Twitter @TaylorRoadWay and @Proud_Tigers and on Facebook for updates. We will also continue our traditional Messenger newsletter, along with weekly principal emails. You can always find more information on our website.
I love my job!

April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month.
Greetings Taylor Road family, it’s Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month and I'm Alicia McClung, the School Social Worker. I want to take the time out to share some resources with our school community on how to grow better together. Protective factors are strengths within a family and community which help develop and promote health and well-being among families. The five protective factors are parental resilience, social connections, concrete support in the times of need, knowledge of parenting and child development, and social and emotional competence of children. Parenting is the hardest job ever! We all need support and encouragement for the journey of raising healthy kids. This link provides tip sheets of discussion starters that can be used to explore ways to better engage with your family.
When we embrace and foster these protective factors, it provides a solid foundation of growth and positive relationship building. If at any time you have questions or want to explore additional support, feel free to reach out to me at 470-254-8710 or via email at email@example.com.

Backpacks of Love
At TRMS we have a program called “backpacks of love”. The purpose of this program is to provide assistance by donating non-perishable items to our families. The participants’ names are known only to the counselors and social worker. Once every two weeks a backpack with food items are available to go home. A student can carry the backpack home, or the parent can pick it up at the front office. All we need to know is if you would like to participate, how many adults are in the house, how many children are in the house, and if there are any dietary allergies such as peanut butter. We can only provide for a certain number of families so the sooner you reply the better. We will respond regardless of whether you are in the program or if supplies run out.

7th grade Counselor- Mrs. Alexcia Massey
8th grade Counselor- Mrs. Cindy Sabula
