A Note from Mrs. Lee
Dear Parents,
We have two exciting events coming up for you and your family. First one is Bingo Night on Friday, Feb. 28th at 5:30-6:30 pm. This is a fun family event that PTA is putting together for an evening of entertainment. It is also a fundraiser for many of the events that PTA is funding for students. The contribution will pay for the upcoming field trips, fifth grade graduation gift, and Field Day. We anticipate a bigger and better Field Day this year, and this is not possible without PTA's support. We look forward to seeing all of you next Friday night.
Open House/Big Art Day is also coming up, and we are thrilled to show you the hard work that our students have been doing. Open House/Big Art Day is on Thursday, March 5, 6:00-7:00.
In recognition of Black History Month, students have been learning about African Americans who have made contributions to our nation. We are celebrating those who have impacted the world we live in today.
Thank you,
Mrs. Lee & Mrs. Williams

Family/Community Resources
This week we launched a Family Resource page on the district’s website. This page provides a searchable list that families, community members and school staff can utilize to help find community resources in order to meet a family’s needs. The list is searchable by agency name, zip code and category. Categories include such areas as basic needs (food assistance, housing assistance), health care (medical, dental, vision), and mental health (substance abuse, counseling, etc.).
The family resource page can be found at https://www.pisd.edu/familyresources
Skaggs Got Talent
Skaggs Got Talent (SGT) will be on Friday, March 6th during specials classes. If your student wants to share their special skill, please go to the sign up link created for their specific grade level on Pickles Music. The students will be performing in the order they sign up. Our objective is to have fun sharing our skills in a noncompetitive, low-key format for students only.
Carpool
- For safety for all, we ask that your vehicle does not stop on the crosswalk. Please look for pedestrians.
- We appreciate you waiting patiently and following the cars before you. Even when things move slowly, it is safer to wait then to drive around (frog hop) it.
- As always, arriving at school closer to 7:30 am is a win for our children. When they're here early, they are ready for a successful day.
- FYI, your child does not have to wait for someone to open the door. If the car has come to a complete stop, they may open their own door to exit. Thank you.

Student Health Reminder & Update
In Plano ISD, maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff is a top priority and a coordinated effort. The district works with the Collin County Health Department, as well as our students, staff, parents and healthcare professionals to manage communicable illnesses such as flu, and the same precautions are in place as we monitor the 2019 Novel (or new) Coronavirus. We all play an important role in managing flu season responsibly.
Schools help by:
· Teaching and encouraging proper handwashing techniques.
· Teaching effective cough and sneeze techniques such as coughing into your sleeve.
· Posting signs around the campus as visual reminders.
· Offering free flu vaccinations to staff.
· Encouraging all staff to remain home when ill.
Parents help by:
· Having their families vaccinated against the flu.
· Encouraging that proper handwashing, sneeze and cough techniques are used at home.
· Consulting their healthcare providers when flu-like symptoms begin. Symptoms include: fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue and nasal congestion.
· Keeping children home when ill.
Students help by:
· Washing their hands for twenty seconds with soap and water before and after eating, after sneezing or coughing into their hands, after using the restroom, after playing outdoors and any other times that their hands are dirty.
· Using tissues when sneezing and coughing into their sleeves.
· Not sharing food and drink.
· Encouraging others to do the same.
The Collin County Health Department can help when:
· Increased incidences of diagnosed flu or absences related to flu-like illness are noted in a particular school.
· Helping plan and making suggestions for managing increased incidences in a particular area.
Update from the Collin County Health Department Regarding Coronavirus:
“We are monitoring the 2019 Novel Coronavirus situation closely and receiving updates from the CDC. At this time, there is no guidance for schools to do anything differently. Schools should continue to practice normal flu season precautions, hand washing, practice cough etiquette, routine disinfection of high touched surfaces, and excluding children with fever until fever free for 24 hours. Schools should not be excluding returning travelers from China. Parents are encouraged to watch for signs and symptoms of illness in their children and other household members. Children with symptoms of the flu or a flu-like illness should not be sent to school.”
