First PTA Meeting!
The first PTA meeting is Tuesday, September 19, 6:30 pm. Please join us in the Creative Commons (Library) for our meeting and then hear from our wonderful school counselor, Mrs. Sarah Fenik!
Why join the PTA? The number one reason for joining the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more PTA advantages:
- Get Connected.
- Discover Great Resources.
- Tap into a Network.
- Speak Up. PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.
Penny's Direct Donation Campaign
Thank you in advance for your support! If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Greco, VP of Fundraising at jafiori@hotmail.com
CALLING ALL ROOM PARENTS!
If you volunteered to serve as room parent in your child’s classroom for the 2017-18 school year, we’d like to say "THANK YOU!" Your teacher and PTA are so grateful for your time and service to PRE!
Please plan to attend a brief Room Parent Introductory Meeting on Tuesday, September 19th at 9:30 am in the cafeteria. The PTA will address the role of a room parent, new/changing responsibilities, and answer your questions. We will also have a computer available in the Creative Commons for you to register as a volunteer (required) with WCPSS if you haven’t already done so. If you have questions or can’t make it, please contact Laurie Cockman at laurietcockman@nc.rr.com.
Odyssey of the Mind Student/Parent information session
Please note that the Student/Parent information session for 4th and 5th graders interested in the Odyssey of the Mind program had to be rescheduled to Tuesday, September 19 at 5:30 pm in the Creative Commons at school. Questions: Please email Jessica Vollmer at j.vollmer8@gmail.com or through Konstella.
Odyssey of the Mind (OM) is an international, fun & educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students. Team members learn many skills including: creativity, problem solving, spontaneous and divergent thinking, engineering, construction, teamwork, risk taking, performance skills, time management and so much more! The OM “season” typically runs from November through March, depending on whether or not teams go beyond the regional tournament the first weekend in March.
Please note that this program is 100% run by parents and all OM parents are expected to take some kind of role with their team.

School Store & Spirit Wear!
Spirit Wear Donations: Our next spirit day is "Wear your PRE colors." We want to ensure that all students get a spirit shirt this year and can participate in the fun spirit days! By making a $5 donation through this link, we will work with staff to make sure that we are able to get shirts to those who need them. Thank you for your support of all of our Pandas!

Library Volunteers Needed
Love kids and books?
Have some extra time during the week?
We would LOVE to have you volunteer to help out in the library.
Mrs. Platts is looking for help throughout the year. If you are available please choose a time slot that works with your schedule. Sign up here or contact Lisa Ann Fowles with any questions at lafowles7@gmail.com.
Workout Wednesdays!
Each Wednesday from 8:50 to 9:10am your child can come to the gym to get some morning exercise! Twice a month we offer yoga with our wonderful certified yoga teacher and parent volunteer, Holly Healy. The other Wednesdays will be a combination of all different types of exercise! There is no advance sign up required, just have your child come and join in the fun!
If you are a parent who loves to exercise, do yoga, Zumba or dance, we would love your help! Moms, dad, aunts, uncles or grandparents are invited to share their passion with our students on Wednesday mornings. Please consider giving just 30 minutes of your time and passion, once a month or just once or twice a year on Wednesday from 8:45-9:10 to get sweaty with our students.
Please email Christine Martin at cmartin@wcpss.net if you are interested in helping.
