Spirit Week - Twinning Day
A Message from the Principal's Desk:
Dear Kingsway Community,
Typically March presents as a very challenging month here at KRMS. Winter usually drags on, events are few and far between, and students long for a much needed break ahead. This year's March has been one of our best in my 8 years as the principal. Though the weather hasn't always cooperated, the vibe in the building has certainly been a positive one. Spirit Week, Penny Wars, three Renaissance Celebrations, our Animal Shelter Blanket Drive, Staff Step Challenge, and Student Morning Walks to music have all provided a nice boost as we head into Spring Break. We are behind the scenes planning select events that we are eager to unveil to our students and parents in the coming months. We at KRMS are looking forward with a positive outlook. These are all welcomed signs as vaccines continue to roll out to the public.
Please enjoy every moment with your student over this Spring Break. Time flies, and soon, that middle schooler of yours will be headed off to high school!
Sincerely,
Mr. Tonelli
Principal, Kingsway Regional Middle School
Spirit Week - Pajama Day
Communication
9:30 Start Time: When working from home, students should log in at 9:30 in order to hear our daily announcements over the loud speaker; this will continue to help with the dissemination of information while helping to connect all of our student to KRMS.
Chrome Books: Students should be charging their Chrome books at night and that they should bring both their Chrome books and their chargers to school with them each day. All students should be sure to charge their Chromebooks and bring them to school with them on April 5th.
Filming Crew: On March 2nd and March 5th, we had a filming crew at KRMS capturing footage of our 8th graders in action. This footage coupled with pictures and videos sent to us by our Cohort V students will be used to create a mini film as a parting gift for our 8th graders. We look forward to seeing the final product!
Student Morning Walks: In order to promote exercise and add a little spice to the day, on 4 occasions this month, students have dropped their bookbags off in their homerooms upon entering the building and walked the hallways during 15 minutes of our traditional homeroom period. With music playing overhead, smiles have been plastered on faces throughout the building. It has been refreshing to see. This little "curve ball" has certainly provided an energy boost to begin our days at KRMS as we march out of winter and head optimistically into spring.
Spirit Week: On the week of March 8th, the Middle School was alive with energy! Numerous students and staff dressed up to reflect a given theme, and many students participated in a fund raiser for a local charity. Students dressed up in their jerseys, showed off their "merch" on Merchandise Day, sported their PJs, and ended the week "twinning" with their friend. The week provided a much needed boost of energy as we waved bye-bye to winter!
1:1 Chromebook Distribution: If your student still has not received a Chromebook, please print and sign the AGREEMENT FORM and have your student return it to his/her homeroom teacher.
Giving Back: During Spirit Week, KRMS students engaged in friendly competition! "Penny Wars" pitted our 7th graders vs. our 8th graders in a battle to see who could donate more spare change for a good cause. Fun was had by both sides as the lead between the grades changed several times. After the sparring ended after 2 weeks, a grand total of $1,025.12 was raised. All the money was donated to the Ronald McDonald House.
Renaissance: In March, Renaissance members were treated to a Mid-Year Celebration, which included Minute-to-Win-It games, raffles, a virtual escape room, and some awesome prizes. It was a great time for all. We are so proud of all 210 Renaissance Cardholders for Semester 1! Remember, Spring is a great time to get outdoors and continue earning participation hours. Check our Schoology page often for ways to get involved. Lastly, the tentative date for our upcoming Middie Celebration is May 14th for all cohorts. More information to follow!
Giving Back/#1DragonFamily: Our #1DragonFamily program focused on emphasizing the character pillar of responsibility throughout the month. During the last week of March, our school community brought in used blankets and towels which were donated to a local animal shelter. The out-pouring of support for this cause was great to see. Our KRMS students and staff continue to support those in need at every opportunity which certainly makes us quite proud!
Math Counts: Our Math Counts team was given a challenge, and they rose to the occasion beautifully! They were to pick a problem off of a list of nearly 300 problems and given the task of solving the problem while putting a creative twist on their presentation of the task. Click HERE to view their problem presentation. We are proud of their work and commitment!
Art Contest Finalist: Kingsway Regional Middle School eighth grade artist, Tyler Wilkinson, has been selected as a finalist for this week's "Artist of the Week" award through Artsonia for the 7th-9th age group. The finalist who receives the most online votes between March 24th and Saturday, March 27 will be selected as the "Artist of the Week."
