A Successful 1st Semester
We have some exciting updates at Garwood this month! First, thank you all so much for your continued support throughout this semester. A lot has changed over the past months, and we are delighted to say we've been able to remain open and be as consistent as possible for students!
As we release grades for the end of 2nd quarter, we ask that you consider not only how much students have grown this year, but also the adjusted starting place because of the unexpected circumstances of last Spring. This year I have seen our dedicated teachers and staff work harder than ever to fill learning gaps and help support students on their learning journey. The grades we report reflect progress toward end-of-year standards. If you notice that your student's grades show they are behind standards and this is atypical for them, it may not be lack of effort or growth- it is likely due to the fact that the starting place is very different this year. To help interpret this information, our teachers have made comments and included other information as necessary to show where students are growing.
Grades will be posted and available to view on Friday, February 5th. There are instructions attached to this newsletter for how to log on to your student's Skyward account and access Quarter 2 grades.
Chromebook 1:1 Rollout- THIS WEEK! Please either print the attached form titled "Technology Damage Replacement Program". This document serves as an update for permission to use the device as well as opt-in for the damage replacement program. Your student will not be issued a Chromebook until this form has been completed. Whether you opt in to the program or not, is completely up to you.
Thank you for your continued support. As always, it's a privilege to serve our students and the Garwood community! If you have any questions about the following information, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Respectfully,
Jake Massey, Principal
