Sydney Carter Brings Home a Crown!

Congratulations to Miss West 2020 Sydney Carter for earning the Portsmouth River Days 2nd Runner Up title at the queens pageant on 12/19/20. Sydney represented PWHS with poise and class winning other awards as well: The Kennedy McGraw Charisma Award, The Emily Hicks Spirit of River Days Award, and second place in the Float competition.

Homecoming Scheduled for Jan. 23

Portsmouth West High School will hold its homecoming ceremony Jan. 23. The ceremony, along with the basketball games, will be livestreamed on PWHS Facebook page (link in next section).

Boys Varsity Basketball Wins 8 Straight

Enjoying an 8 game winning streak, PWHS boys basketball team has found that tenacious defense wins games. Currently 9-3, the boys will take on the undefeated Wheelersburg Pirates on Friday, Jan. 22. You can watch and cheer the boys on virtually on our PWHS Facebook page.

Girls Basketball Team

The girls basketball team is currently 6-6 for the 2020-2021 season. Though young, the team's strong skills both offensively and defensively continue to improve and guarantee they will be a dominant force in the near future.

Swim Team Continues to Build Program

SOC Team 2 Awards:
  • 200 Meter Medley Relay: Caleb Hazelbaker, Rielly Carr, Hayden Runions, Carson Malnar

  • Men's 200 Meter Freestyle: Aiden Robinson

  • Women's 200 Meter Individual Medley: Ashlynn Pfau

  • Men's 100 Meter Butterfly: Hayden Runions

  • Women's 100 Meter Backstroke: Bailee Wireman

This season, the girls have defeated Portsmouth, Northwest and Ironton. The boys have tied Portsmouth once, defeated Northwest three times, and defeated Burg twice.
