Summer Learning Academy Update
Parent Resources
Make sure to review the Parent FAQ document frequently where you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions during this time. Updates will be highlighted in blue throughout the upcoming weeks. Along with the Parent FAQ document, our student services staff have created a presentation to provide resources on how to help your children cope with mental health. You will find fact sheets as well as age specific information in the presentation.
A Message from our District Nurse
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, MNS is aware that you may have difficulty obtaining an appointment with your healthcare provider to obtain necessary immunizations for your student. We anticipate the Wisconsin Department of Health Services will provide additional immunization guidance for the 2020-2021 school year. The current immunization laws remain in effect until such guidance is provided. Please see the Family Immunization Guidance for 2020-2021 for more information:
Opportunity for Summer Child Care
Starting May 26, 2020, Champions will be offering a school-age child care program at Bay Lane Elementary. The Champions’ Child Care program will give students a safe space to explore their interests while also following the new health and safety guidelines. As a bonus, space will also be provided for students participating in virtual learning.
Enrollment begins May 18, 2020. In order for the program to run, Champions requires a minimum of fifty (50) families. Program hours and rates can be found here. With seats going fast, visit Champion Child Care’s website (www.discoverchampions.com) to enroll your child today! If you have any questions, or would like to receive further information, contact Champions’ Area Manager, Sam Kwasniewicz, (skwasniewicz@discoverchampions.com).
Before and After School Child Care for the 2020-2021 School Year
Mill Valley is proud to partner with Champions Before- and After-School to provide flexible on-site programs. Available for all grade levels, Champions gives students a safe space to explore their interests by creating and innovating.
When you sign your child up for Champions, you get a convenient solution for your busy schedule. And they’ll have fun doing things that teach them new skills like:
- Interest-driven curriculum in technology, reading, creative arts, math, and engineering.
- STEM-based learning through problem-solving and collaboration.
- Educational games with friends they see every day.
- Activities that grow social-emotional intelligence and develop character.
- Dedicated time for homework (and help if they need it).

Although none of us could have known how this year would end, we could not be more proud of our graduating 4th graders. We want to make every effort to ensure these unusual times are still special for them.
All 4th grade students will be receiving a goody bag from PTO, along with one more special surprise!
