Macbeth
Act 5 Scene 1
Original VS Remake
Macbeth a famous Play by William Shakespeare has been remade for your years. The remake that was as almost as great as the original play was created by Rupert Goold in 2010. The remake was very similar to the original play but for Goold to claim the remake as his own image he added a little change to the plot. The change was interesting and improved the original story.
Lady Macbeth
A key aspect to making a good "Macbeth" is to have a great Lady Macbeth. She was the character who made the whole story possible by influencing Macbeth to carry out his first murder turned him into a real murderer. She only wanted to become queen but he continued to kill and because she influenced first murder she felt she had something to do with the rest which led her to sleep walking.
The Setting
The setting had a great effect on the scene whether most people realized or not. In the original story there Lady macbeth had been wandering with a source of light (a candle) and so did Lady Macbeth in the 2010 version (a flashlight). What was not in the text was an actual sink. It was a small addition but it was signifigant. Because there was an actual sink there it presented the image that Lady Macbeth wasnt actually sleep walking. The fact that she knew there was a sink present meant she was aware of where she was which created the greater image. She was beginning to go crazy which foreshadowed the outcome.
The Outcome
In the end Lady Macbeth died. It was never said how she died but it was assumed that she commited suicide because she had went crazy with guilt. Which her sleep walking film had foreshadowed in the film especially when she reached for the doctor who she was aware was present.
