A Weekly Look at Grant Elementary School & the Grant PTA
Week of January 6, 2020
We are Back in Session Tomorrow, January 7th!
A Message From Principal Grey
Dear Grant Community,
Welcome back and happy new year to you all! I hope you had a truly wonderful winter break with your friends and family and a great start to 2020. We are looking forward to seeing our students tomorrow and starting out this year with enthusiasm for learning and growth. While I am not an avid new years resolution writer, I do value the opportunity to gain a fresh perspective in January and bring a new outlook to the months that lay ahead. As we head into this new decade, I have some goals for our school and community.
- Creating a kind, inclusive and welcoming environment for all students and families. Through our teaching, school events, staff discussions, assemblies, and work as a parent community, I would like to spark dialogue and take actions that make Grant a friendly and welcoming environment for all.
- Meeting the needs of our students academically, socially and emotionally. Each student at Grant contributes their individuality to our campus and requires individualized support. We aim to provide each child with the attention and education they need to thrive well beyond their years at Grant.
- Producing less waste on our campus. Grant disposes of tons of food and nonrecyclable waste every day-particularly during lunchtime. We have found that many of our students throw away a large portion of their lunches every day. Our goal is to encourage them to take home the food they do not want to eat and to bring reusable containers in their lunches as opposed to single-use plastics. We are also working hard to improve our compost and recycle sorting process.
Thank you for your support in making Grant the best school it can be!
Happy New Year,
Ms. Grey
