Hite's Happenings

November 2015 Issue

1st Grade

First graders are learning about entomology. We have learned about ants, fireflies, bees and crickets as well as insect anatomy. We also learned that some bugs are helpful and some are harmful. We will complete this unit with an insect Olympics.

Bugs aren't so bad after all!

2nd Grade

Second graders are still learning about notable scientists and inventors. This month we have learned about Neil Armstrong and Barnum Brown. These two units are especially fun since students got to take home a "dino" dig and a model airplane.

3rd and 4th Grade

Third and fourth graders are finishing up their very challenging Texas Performance Standards Projects. Third and fourth graders should have a game or learning center to complete over the next few weeks. These are due the first week back from Thanksgiving break. We are having a lot of interesting discussions and I really enjoy hearing about all the fantastic ideas they come up with!

Texas Association for Gifted and Talented Conference

The state of Texas has a wonderful conference for all things gifted. There are even a few resources for parents, so I thought I'd share.
