Health, Safety, and Covid-19 Communication
You may find Ms. Wozniak's most recent community update, sent to families on January 21st, HERE.
On February 9th this message was sent to all Dooley families:
Our licensing agency, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), has once again updated the COVID Guidelines for childcare providers.
The guidelines for children over the age of two now align with the K-12 guidelines, which are already in place in Fraser Public Schools.
Students who test positive for COVID-19 and/or are symptomatic
- If asymptomatic, monitor for symptoms for days 0 – 10; and
- Isolate at home for days 0 – 5 (day “0” is day symptoms begin or day test was taken for those without symptoms); and
- If symptoms have improved or no symptoms developed, return to school, while wearing a well-fitted mask, for days 6 -10; or
- Stay home for days 0 - 10 if unwilling/unable to wear a mask.
- If you have a fever, stay home until you are fever free for a period of 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications
We will no longer identify individuals as close contacts in the school environment and require a quarantine period. If there is a confirmed or presumed case of COVID-19 in your child’s classroom, a notification of potential exposure will be sent out to the affected classroom within 24 hours of the school being notified.
We encourage you to keep your child home if they have any symptoms of illness or are not feeling well.
Thank you for your continued support,
Ms. Carrie Wozniak
Superintendent
For updated FPS COVID-19 information, including quarantine updates, district data, testing information, etc., our FPS Covid-19 Dashboard is updated daily and can be found HERE.
Also, PLEASE continue to notify us at (586) 439-7600 if your child tests positive for Covid-19 or has been in contact with someone who has. It is crucial that we have this information and keep sick people at home to help us keep healthy teachers and students at school teaching and learning.
Keeping Illness Out of School
Community spread of Covid-19 is quite high, right now, and there are many other contagious illnesses going around this time of year, too. PLEASE continue to keep your child at home if he/she has any sign of illness until the cause has been identified by a medical professional. This includes seemingly minor symptoms like a stuffy nose or tickle in the throat. Please do not assume it's "just a cold" or "just allergies." We will send symptomatic students home.
Please remember that aside from Covid-19, many other illnesses are also contagious, so students who are sick should not be at school with colds, Strep throat, the flu, or stomach bugs either.
***Remember, the best way to do YOUR PART to help keep our community healthy and in school teaching and learning is to keep children with any potential sign of illness at home until the cause is determined by a medical professional.***
Please supply a change of Clothes!
Please make sure that your child has an extra set of clothes that are season appropriate and fit them properly. If we don't have something for your child to wear, we may need to call you to come drop some clothes off.
OUTDOOR CLOTHING
Please dress appropriately!
We try to go outdoors as much as possible, so please send appropriate clothing.
In winter we do not go outdoors if temperatures or the wind chill is below 20 ̊
Please help your child learn how to put on his/her snow pants, boots, mittens and coat. These skills build independence and confidence!
Boots are important for the coming weather!
However, boots should NOT be worn all day.
They are hot, clumsy and can cause accidents.
Please send shoes with your child every day.
Socks must be worn with all types of shoes. Please do NOT send your child in SANDALS, FLIP-FLOPS, CROCS OR BACKLESS AND OPENED TOED SHOES.
It is for your child’s own safety that we advise he or she to wear full tennis shoes or shoes with rubber soles.
Thank you!
BAD WEATHER DAYS/SCHOOL CLOSINGS
ALL OF THE DOOLEY CENTER PROGRAMS follow the procedures of Fraser Public Schools on days when weather conditions make driving dangerous.
Fraser Public Schools uses, School Messenger. You will get an email and/or automated phone call letting you know that your child’s school has been closed.
You can also stay tune to your favorite radio or television station for school closing announcements. If Fraser Public Schools is closed, the Dooley Center is CLOSED.
