CARLSON COURIER
Home of the Champions
Greetings Champions,
I hope you are having a great weekend. I know our Champions had a great week celebrating with Birthday Book Club, Champions Lunch and of course Fun Friday! But most of all they are looking forward to the finish line, the final week of the first quarter! OK, this next part is hard for me (former Chandler Wolf) but I have to give the Hamilton Huskies a super shout out for displaying Champion demeanor last Friday. If your kids play any sport that game will be etched in history forever. They looked defeat in the eyes and said not tonight. They found a way to beat Bishop Gorman facing near impossible odds. Under two minutes left in the 4th quarter, down 24-7, they pulled off one of the biggest upsets/comebacks in the history of high school sports. Hats off to the HHS team and staff, that was true Champion mentality on full display. Should make for a great CHS vs HHS game next month.
OK back to Carlson. So, I thought after last year that this year was supposed to be easier and things were going to be back closer to what we remember as being normal, but I must say it has been probably the hardest quarter yet. The demands of normal heavily weighed on us while safety and the covid pandemic still play a dominant factor each and everyday. We find ourselves caught in the middle of trying to balance both of these worlds. So, as this quarter comes to a close we should be very proud of what we've been able to accomplish together. While we are not perfect, on any given day you can see happy kids, learning and growing in a safe and nurturing environment with many trusted adults that care deeply about them. Our staff has, like those Huskies, looked defeat in the eyes and said not today, not ever. Here at Carlson we are Champions and no matter how tough it gets we rise and we find a way to make it happen. No one ever said it was going to be easy. But I can tell you its been worth it and we too will be celebrating our victories as they come. And for that we must thank you for your continued support and trust in us not only to educate your child(ren), but to care for them and keep them safe. That is truly an honor for us and a commitment you can count on. Its been a joy being able to regain some of the things we did pre-pandemic. We did more in the last quarter than all of last year. That's part of our comeback and we hope to not stop there. Now, I can't predict what the next quarter has in store, but if we continue working together and can keep things going, I am awfully optimistic that we are heading in the right direction and more great things are in store for us. So, I hope you all enjoy this final week before a much needed break to rest and rejuvenate.
Ok, this is last call for grades so be sure and get any late or missing assignments turned in for credit as soon as possible. This week is Spirit Week. Please join in on the fun and dress up each day to show you Carlson spirit (see flyer below). We will end the quarter with our Champions assembly and send them off for two weeks of family and friend time. They've worked hard and earned it. Great job CHAMPIONS!
Resiliently,
Mr. Morgan
