- EPA Resources - I do want to continue the momentum. HERE is the slideshow with the video from 3rd grade. And HERE is a video about the UNLESS project that Tina is working on with the zoo (it's about energy) if you'd like to follow up in your class. Please keep an eye out for information regarding the Terracycle bins (we are starting slow w/ 3 bins) and please continue to stress recycling in the classrooms. I think we can really engage the kids moving forward with some empowering ideas... Feel free to work as a homeroom or class to initiate a project or idea!
Article of the Week
Quote of the Week:
Note from the Principal:
Happy Friday!
This week there was a piece in the NY Times that was a follow up from an 'article of the week' that we had a while ago about gratitude. It's short - CLICK HERE to check it out.
We know that reflecting upon the things that we are grateful for actually makes us feel better and makes us more satisfied and it may even help the people around us feel better, but it is the perfect vaccine for the "Spring Stress" that can mount in the weeks before PARCC and as the schedule seems to get more crowded and the days more jam packed.
While I don't have scientific data to back it up, I'd say there is at least a 3:1 ratio (if not way higher) for great things to setbacks/frustrations at BT and in our lives. For every one thing that makes us stressed or upset, we have at least three things to be really thankful for.
So at minimum in the next 2-3 weeks reflect upon some of those good things (and people!) at BT and in your life, but try to take it a step further and jot down a note or an email. It will have a positive and immediate impact on you.
As an added bonus - if you tweet or email Tim Herrera telling him about what/who you are grateful for (.@timherrera or tim@nytimes.com) he may publish it. Wouldn't that be cool for the person for whom you are grateful?... But it's more than ok if it is a private thanks, too!
In any case, it's out there - lot's of positive people and things at BT, at home and in your community. Don't forget to notice it!
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Chris
