Team 9 Core Classes
Students just finished the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee--woohoo!! This book was BIG and loaded with lots of hard topics, but I am so proud of Team 9 students for taking on such a giant task. Most people do not read this book until high school, so CONGRATULATIONS Team 9!!!
Students were introduced to the final project for To Kill a Mockingbird on Wednesday the 11th. For this project, students will independently create a 2-3 minute video (using the program WeVideo) that takes the perspective of either Jem or Scout. First, students will demonstrate how the character viewed the world at the beginning of the novel. Next, students will identify three different events that show character change or growth. Finally, students will predict what lessons (themes) this character will pass on to his or her own children. This video project will be due on Tuesday Dec. 17th, and optional presentations for extra credit will be on Wednesday Dec. 18th.
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I look forward to seeing students again on Tuesday January 7th! I am in the process of planning lots of cool lessons for second semester. So much more to explore this school year :)

Students need a new composition book this this week.
Angle relationships is the topic of Unit 2. We will be working with triangles this week. Unit 2 Quiz 2 is this Friday. Please check Schoology for help links. Homework 19 is due Friday, January10th.
Students may correct Unit 2 Quiz 1 until January 17th. Students should set up a time to come in to correct their assessment.

Our first unit for the new year is the Industrial Revolution!
This week we are studying the many changes that the Industrial Revolution of the mid 1800's brought to the United States. In addition to industrialization, we are also looking at how immigration and urbanization affected the United States. We will also look at inventions and how they impacted these rapid changes that occurred in the mid-1800's.

This week we finished up and presented our Landform Project and I must say that I was amazed by some of the work these students completed! This next week we will be moving forward to figuring out how these landforms came to be in the first place. As well as beginning a dive into plate tectonics.
As the weather starts getting colder and flu season approaches, I just want to remind us all to make sure we are all getting enough sleep and washing our hands frequently!
