Here We Go, Again!
We are delighted to share some ideas for continued learning as the summer approaches.
- Reading Eggs is offering several free educational printouts for reading and math, including Alphabet iSpy placemats and a phonics book for kindergarteners. Teachers and parents can also sign up to get a free 30-day trial.
- MindAntix is releasing a weekly set of free brainteasers to help build cognitive creativity. Download the activities from MindAntix’ site.
- Survive learning at home with kids is an online community, from Participate, providing support and resources to families helping their children learn at home. Adults can connect with others during morning coffee chats and afternoon happy hours (while the kids play with Legos!) or on discussion boards. Students can find a full schedule of live external events, such as music workshops, lunchtime art and writing sessions and cooking classes with professional chefs. Plus, tons of ideas for lessons, projects, virtual field trips, establishing new routines and learning spaces and more.
Materials Pick-up and Beacon Goodbyes
Parents,
We have two additional pick-up days for student materials that have been left behind at the Beech or for families that would like to leave gifts for teachers.
Friday, May 22 from 9:00- 3:00 All Grades
Parents will need to park and head to the front portico area. Once there, ring the doorbell. When recognized by an office staff member, please announce your child's name and grade level. Someone will locate your child's bag and bring it to the porch area. After you have been helped, please step away from the door and sit on one of the designated benches. A staff member will bring your child's bag out and place it in a bin for your retrieval. We will be practicing social distancing. There will be bins for library books and gifts for teachers. Please label and seal any gifts that you have for teachers. Thank you for your cooperation.

Put Me In, Coach (GATE)
As we end this year and begin to make plans for the next one, please know that I value the input from parents relative to class placement. Parents, if you would like to weigh-in, please do the following:
- WHO: Email: Ms. McClain @CMcClain@dorchester2.k12.sc.us
- WHEN: After -May 18, 2020 and By- June 15, 2020
- WHAT: Give me 5 important things about your child- bullet the items. No paragraphs or lengthy narratives. Be sure to put your child's name, gender and current homeroom at the top of your email. This is the most effective method for sharing your input for placement consideration. Feel free to describe briefly what kind of teacher your child needs. DO NOT NAME A SPECIFIC TEACHER...These requests will not be granted.
