AMHS Uniform Policy- Parents we need your help!

In recent weeks, we have observed that some of our scholars are having difficulty following the AMHS Uniform Policy. Arabia Mountain High School is and has always been a uniform school. Therefore, all students (9th -12th grade) are expected to be in school uniform daily. We know that many of you have reviewed the dress code policy with your students. However, some of our scholars are choosing to not adhere to uniform expectations. Therefore, beginning this week through the remainder of the semester, we will strictly enforce the dress code policy as we are a uniform school. Students who are out of the dress code will receive disciplinary consequences and will be required to contact their parents to bring them the appropriate AMHS uniform. Mondays have been designated as “Blazer Mondays.” Students should wear their navy blazers each Monday as a part of their uniforms. Please note the uniform closet will not be available during this pandemic period. Parents, please review the uniform policy with your student and help them to adhere to the AMHS uniform policy.

Thank you for your continued support.

Gate City Bar Association’s Justice Robert Benham Law Camp

We are pleased to announce that the Gate City Bar Association’s Justice Robert Benham Law Camp will be held again virtually this summer. The Camp is sponsored in partnership with King & Spalding, LLP, and Georgia State University College of Law.

As you are aware, Justice Robert Benham, for whom the Law Camp is named, is the first African-American to serve on the Supreme Court of Georgia. The Justice Benham Law Camp is designed to provide guidance and mentoring to local high school students and introduce them to career opportunities available in the legal profession, with the overall goal of increasing diversity in the legal profession, specifically in Georgia and the Atlanta area.

Eligible rising 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students for the 2022-2023 school year must be committed to actively participating in the camp’s two-week program. Candidates for the Law Camp will be selected through a two-tier process including review of an application and associated documentation, as well as an interview. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to the law, hear from practicing minority lawyers and judges, and participate in a mock legal argument.

The Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund (SCSF)

The Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund (SCSF) was founded on the belief that any motivated individual in need should have the opportunity to further his or her education. By removing some of the financial burdens associated with going to, surviving in, and graduating from college, the SCSF plays a vital role in increasing college access and success for many motivated yet underserved youth and young adults. The SCSF provides individual grants, paid directly to the educational institution, to every student who qualifies and reapplies yearly, from admission to graduation. The grant can be used to cover tuition expenses and related supplemental educational expenses such as books, lab fees, travel, and select costs of living. All Shawn Carter Scholars are required to “give back” by conducting community service and by serving as mentors to younger, aspiring Shawn Carter Scholars.
