Memorial Unified Arts Newsletter
2022-2023 Volume 1
Library with Mrs. Dillon 📚
Physical Education with Ms. Sibik🏀
Music with Mr. Mercier🎼
The start of this year in music has been filled with ‘news’ here at Winchendon Memorial!
I am new here. Formerly the Director of Music for the district of R.C.Mahar, I am thrilled to be here working with these bright eyed young music students. Our new schedule is designed so that our students have music class once every three days instead of once every 6 days. Our new open classroom layout is shining with new paint on the walls. The new music murals on our stage doors are ready to bookend our newly restored stage curtains when they open for concerts later this year and new parts have brought our beautiful barred instruments back to life for students to perform with.
All of our classes are currently exploring pitch and working to sing tunefully in fun songs like “The Littlest Worm” and “Willoughby Wallaby Woo” as they master control over beat in games like “Class Vs The Drum” and “The Beanbag Factory”.
I look forward to more music ‘news’ as the year progresses!
Technology with Mrs. Daigle💻
We have had a great start to the year in the Technology Lab. First and second grade have covered what it means to be a good digital citizen and how to take care of our Chromebooks. Kindergarten students created their own paper computer, how to take care of the computer and learned the parts of the computer. All classes have learned how to sign into their computer using a QR code and how to navigate the SSO (Single Sign On) platform Clever. First and Second grade will be exploring different Google Apps so that they can use them in the regular classroom setting and using typing.com to improve their keyboarding skills. Kindergarten will focus on using the trackpad and exploring finding the keys on the keyboard.

Art with Ms. Leserte🎨
Dear Memorial Families,
My name is Ms. Laserte, and I am the art teacher at Memorial Elementary. I am so excited to be with my students and see what amazing things they will create!
This year, we will focus on the processes of art. Students will explore new mediums, learn about different cultures, and practice communicating their ideas. Art has the ability to connect us with each other, our school community, and the world at large!
Before each art class begins, we have a saying; “Open mind, open heart, now it’s time to make some art!” My hope for students is that they exercise their creative problem-solving skills and learn how to express their thoughts and emotions.
I am invested in creating a safe and joyful learning environment for your student. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at llaserte@winchendonk12.org
Having so many art room adventures requires us to have a lot of art making materials. If you would like to donate supplies to help us continue our creativity just know your donations are appreciated and will be put to good use!
Here is a list of supplies we are looking for: scrapbooking paper, CD’s, costume jewelry, shaving cream, or baby wipes.
