KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM
Math- In math class, we will continue to work on the concept of subtraction or "taking away" of whole numbers.
Religion- The students attended the Christmas Prayer Service at the end of the school year. In religion class this week the students will learn about the sacrament of Baptism and in particular, we will learn about the baptism of Jesus.
Guidance- Dr. Pannell will teach a special lesson this week on fire/earthquake and lockdown drills and emergencies. She will be incorporating special language into teaching this class that will help the kindergartners understand how to participate in all school drills. Her lesson will focus on how to follow directions and remain calm during any of these events that may occur on campus.
Language Arts - To start off our second semester in kindergarten, the students have been introduced to a new SUPERKIDS character known as Hot Rod. This new SUPERKIDS character loves to race cars, likes to be first, and has a race car called Fast Cat! The children are excited to learn about Hot Rod!

SUPERKIDS Reminder
As we begin the new year, we encourage all of our parents to go online to the SUPERKIDS website. There are fun games and reading activities your child will enjoy while visiting the site. Accessing the SUPERKIDS webiste supports our efforts in the classroom to promote reading skills across the grade.
Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day 2016
Please mark your calendars! It may seem early, but Mayfield’s annual Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ day is right around the corner. We look forward to welcoming the ones we love on February 12, 2016. This is a special tradition, a day when Grandparents or Special Family Friends join students on campus for Mass and classroom activities. To insure we get an invitation to your child's special guest, please fill out the form here if this is your first year at MJS (or there are changes to the addresses from last year's invitation mailing): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/12VIQdERng0cKT1-D7Szb_StAXMSSNGZDWVkdrehN_I4/viewform

CARPOOL REMINDER
We would like to remind our families to place your family's Last Name placard in the dashboard area of your vehicle for pick up at the end of the day. Placement of the placard helps move the carpool line along at a speedier pace when we can identify vehicles quickly!
