Fall Sports Guidance
As provided in last week's newsletter, the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) released general and sports-specific guidance related to the upcoming fall sports season and COVID-19. The sports played in the fall include cross country, football, golf, swimming and diving, and volleyball.
WDMCS and the Central Iowa Metropolitan League (CIML) are still determining how the guidelines will be enforced and followed at member schools' athletic facilities during competitions, practices, and camps at both the high school and junior high level. More information will be shared in a future email communication and be available online at ValleyTigers.com prior to the start of competitions being played. Details about junior high fall sports are expected to come by the end of this week as we are waiting for conference schools' decisions that may affect scheduling.
As a reminder:
- WDMCS students who are in the online or on-site learning environments are eligible to participate in extracurricular activities.
- Students, staff, and fans must wear a face covering at all times when not physically 6 feet or more apart.
- Fan access to games and competitions will be limited in order to meet social distancing guidelines.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact your team's head coach.

All forms must be submitted and completed prior to when practices begin. High school fall sports practices began today, Monday, August 10. Junior high fall sports practices are set to start Monday, August 24.
Reporting a Positive COVID-19 Diagnosis/Exposure
If a student-athlete tests positive or is exposed to COVID-19, it is crticial to report to school leadership immediately. The student-athlete or family member should report the diagnosis or exposure to their head coach, school nurse, or Valley Athletics and Activities Director Brad Rose.
We appreciate the partnership of our WDMCS families and staff members as we work together to limit the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to practice the recommended preventative steps to remain healthy.
Status of Student Activity Tickets (SATs)
WDMCS is currently collaborating with Central Iowa Sports Network for livestream options, but only HOME VARSITY events are being considered. Families who have already purchased a 2020-21 SAT will receive a code from CISN in order to watch games free of charge. Families can also request a refund. Please contact your school in order to do so.
SATs are good for the entire school year. We will share guidance around attendance throughout the year and provide more details regarding livestream viewing as soon as we learn more information.
