Shoutouts
It is impossible to have activities such as this for the students without adult supervision. Thank you! A special thank you to those who live out of town and stayed to help.
Shoutouts also go to the following individuals who have completed their online STAAR trainings: Christopher Watts, Kandace Fox, Jackie Ruiz, Roel Ramon, Shannon Ramon, Margie Longoria, Rose Flores, Linda Bernal, Maria Christina Garcia, and Dr. Holmgreen.
Mentoring
Additionally, I want each teacher to choose 2 students not on this list to mentor. Administrators will do the same. If you feel that you can mentor more than 2 students, please do. Give the names of the student you will mentor to Dr. Holmgreen. If some students have more than one mentor, Dr. Holmgreen may ask you to make some adjustments so that we can impact more students.
Please meet regularly with your students and complete a "Mentoring Minutes" for for each meeting. You will find this form in a shared Google drive document. Print them as needed and give them to Dr. Holmgreen each week. They will be kept in a binder for documentation purposes.
Mentoring does make a difference. Let's work together to make a difference for our students.
High yield strategies
It can be any high yield strategy, and not necessarily those listed below.
Tardiness, Absences and Exemptions, Oh My!
This is an opportunity to exempt their six weeks exams if they have a certain grade average and meet attendance and tardy requirements for the class.
Higher Order Thinking and Questioning-Practice Makes Perfect!
Professional development library
We are working to spruce things up a bit and have added a desk at which you may sit to make your parent phone calls and we have added some book shelves where we are placing some professional development books you might find helpful.
There is a clipboard and papers on which you can record your name, the book you are borrowing and the date out/date in. We hope you will take advantage of these books and that you enjoy the environment we are working to create.
*You will also find a few games that you might want to play during lunch to relieve some stress.
