Facts
- The rainforest now only covers about 3% of the world, but it holds 50% of the worlds plants and animals.
- The rainforest produces 15-20% of the World's oxygen.
- The Amazon Rainforest is home to 2 and a half million different species of insects.
Challenges
- Deforestation is a huge problem in the forest. A forest that used to cover 14% of land I the world now covers about 3%.
- Another problem are the hydroelectric projects that flood acres and acres of the rainforest.
- Farming is a another problem in the forest. People have so much land in the forest that they cut the trees killing the wildlife that lives there.
