City High Update
The School That Leads
October 16, 2019
Dear Little Hawks,
Greetings from The School That Leads! Thank you to the many families who attended parent/teacher conferences on Monday evening. One more chance this afternoon/evening! Conferences will be held today (10/16) from 4:30-7:30 on a drop-in basis in classrooms.
PSAT Test Takers in Action
255 Little Hawks took the PSAT exam this morning. These students worked hard and have gained valuable experience taking a college entrance exam type test. The PSAT is a practice SAT opportunity, and the results are used to decide with 11th graders nationwide earn National Merit status. Well done!
Bravo, Choir!
Congratulations to Directors Hagy and Grove, and our student musicians on a wonderful choir concert. City High is fortunate to have outstanding music programs that provide students with many special opportunities.
Faculty That Leads Continues Learning Themselves
The City High School faculty engages in professional development work each Thursday after school. Currently, the staff is learning about "Trauma Informed Care", which means how to best serve students who have experienced various forms of childhood trauma. Our team keeps learning so we can be the best for our students and families!
Engineering Students at Work
City High Project Lead the Way engineering students are designed and building machines in class. This student is working on a computer program that control gear shifting. Another example of the wide range of academic opportunities available to students.
IJAG Student Leaders!
City High IJAG students participated in a special ceremony to elect class officers to different leadership positions within the IJAG organization. Our IJAG students are amazing young people, who are going on to do excellent things after high school.
Sparkle Cheerleaders
Meet the City High Sparkle Cheerleaders. This inclusive team helps bring spirit and pride to our school as they cheer on the Little Hawks!
Meet our Hall Monitors!
Anterio Nimmers, Malcom Moore, Dennis Knoop, and Chip Hardesty make up City High's wonderful hall security team. These guys go above and beyond for our students and staff. They keep a watchful eye over the Little Hawks to help make sure our school days are safe and positive. They also build great relationships with students and take great care of kids. All four men also perform many extra duties such as coaching and event management. We are fortunate to have these great people on our team!
It's great to be a City High Little Hawk!
Thank you for your strong support of City High School!
