Online Worship for Sunday, May 24th
MARKed: One More Chance to See (Mark 10:46-52)
A great opportunity lies before us, Prospect!
We can be the Church that the community is desperate to become a part of.
How?
By offering the connection to Jesus that those in the community are crying out for.
I hope you'll be blessed but today's worship...even as you seek to bless God in your worship.
And may we all respond by answering the call to share the blessings of God's love with those in need.
<><,
Pastor Steve
One of my seminary professors was fond of reminding us students that, "Preaching a text without the context is merely a pretext for saying whatever it is the preacher wants to say."
I hope you had a chance to view the "CHANGING PHASES" context post from Friday. Today's text from Mark 10 closes out part 2 of Mark's Gospel...and sets the stage for the messages of Holy Week that we jumped ahead to consider back in April.
As we pray this week, please remember:
Ginger Brattain's sister in your prayers as she mourns the passing of her son.
Joan Fuchs (Mary Pietreniak's sister-in-law's sister) who is battling cancer.
Mary Jibben's aunt, Laura, whose husband, Louis, passed away in Florida last week after contracting the coronavirus.
Illinois small business owners as they seek to reopen in the next few days.
Livestock and produce farmers as the "food chain" suffers in America.
Paul I. and Olivia P. as they prepare for their wedding!
Megan P. as she travels back to Illinois this week.
All things Covid related, including our discussions and planning related to "reopening Prospect."
More Prospect Positives:
Jim Durand has been working hard in the parsonage as we prepare to welcome Pastor Linda.
Pat Campbell is working out details for a "virtual Vacation Bible School."
Moving to Phase 3 in the Covid recovery process should allow us to host small groups (under 10) and have "parking lot worship" with communion in the coming weeks.
At the end of the day, maybe this message should have been called: One More Chance to Follow. That is Jesus' real invitation to all of us...and that is where the real miracles take place, when we're following Jesus through life's dangers, toils and snares on the journey to our eternal home.
