The Buzz
What's happening in our hive.
This week in third-grade...
ELA- Students are working a mini-unit on poetry wherein they will read and write a variety of poetry. As in math, students will begin preparing for the EOG reading test.
Science- Students are wrapping up their unit on plant systems and adaptations. Students have explored the structures that help plants survive and spread in a variety of locations.
Multiplication Fact Fluency
As we begin to wrap up the instruction of new content, we will turn our attention to committing the remaining facts to memory. Students are taking timed fluency tests at their own pace and practicing memorization strategies in their classrooms. We will celebrate their growth with a movie day on Friday, May 31.
We ask that you help support your child by helping them study and memorize their multiplication facts at home. Buying or making flash cards for each fact set can be helpful. Students can also practice skip counting(3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, etc.), identifying patterns, or play multiplication games with dominoes or a deck of cards.
