End of Year Virtual Class Parties - During Class Hangouts - Thursday, May 21
The 2019-2020 school year was full of surprises and new adventures. We learned in our campus classrooms, we learned in our campus garden, we learned on the campus playground, and, through LTISD technology, we continued to learn from the safety of our homes.
We look forward to seeing many of you again in the 2020-2021 school year when Tigers return to West Cypress Hills. To students who will be Rough Hollow Rattlers, we wish you great success at your sparkling new campus. To our Tiger 5th Grade, we extend hearty congratulations on the completion of the school year and your promotion to middle school. We hope to see you again when the Lake Travis Middle School Knights visit our campus.
Our school year is fast coming to a close, and it's time to reflect on your accomplishments and celebrate your completion of the school year. And, speaking of celebrations, we will be having virtual class parties and 5th Grade promotion festivities during hangouts on Thursday, May 21. Here is the party schedule:

A Letter to Incoming Knights from LTMS Principal Wolff
Hello Future Knights,
While this has been a very strange end to this school year, we have begun our preliminary planning for next year. At this time, we are still not sure of what "school" will look like in the fall; however, there are some things we would like for you to know as your child prepares to enter middle school.
1. Communication - At LTMS, I communicate with families through a weekly newsletter, published on Fridays. As of now, we do not have your email address in our database, but will be working with the Technology Department to allow you to receive correspondence from our school.
2. Summer Reading Lists - Our summer reading lists for incoming 6th graders, as well as 7th and 8th graders, will be published on our website on Friday, May 22. These reading lists are generated by our ELA Department teachers and are beneficial to keep kids connected to learning over the summer.
3. Beginning of Year Events - We will communicate all beginning-of-year events as we learn more about what school will look like in the fall. There are several traditional events we plan, but no final decision will be made until we know more about our return in August. We will certainly communicate with you as soon as possible.
Have a great summer and hope to see you in the fall......GO KNIGHTS!
Don't be left out! Check out the PTO Online Auction Now! Auction benefits WCHE & RHE!
As you all know, we had to cancel our PTO Parent Mixer that was scheduled for the end of March. The PTO had already collected some AMAZING items from local businesses and beyond and were planning on an auction the night of the mixer. However, since we were unable to do that, our fabulous PTO is holding an online auction May 15 through May 21! Yay!
Proceeds from this auction will go toward the support of our students and teachers, both at WCHE and RHE. We know this is a really weird time for all of you, but we hope to come together to raise money for a good cause. In addition, the local businesses especially need our patronage right now more than ever!
The auction runs from 8 am on May 15 to 9 pm on May 21. The auction is being held using Bid Beacon which can be accessed at the Bid Beacon website. The auction invitation code is 2KLEFE. After you've registered an account with Bid Beacon, select the Join Auction button, enter code 2KLEFE, and you will be taken to the auction.
How to Bid: You can bid on items either from the Bid Beacon website or the Bid Beacon App. Find the item of interest, and at the bottom of the screen there will be a Bid button. The bid amount is automatically incremented the minimum amount, or you can adjust the bid with + and – buttons, or tap on price to enter new amount, before clicking Bid. While in the app, you will get a popup to let you know if you have been outbid. If this happens, click Open to view the item and place another bid. If outside of the app, you will get a push notification to let you know that you've been outbid, assuming you opted in to push notifications.
Did I Win? When the auction ends, you will be sent an email containing a list of your winnings. In the app there will be a View Results button that you can click to see a list of your winnings.
How do I pay for winnings? All winning auction items will be paid for in Cheddar Up. After you’ve been notified of your win you will go to the CheddarUp link provided and submit your full payment. All payments are due within 48 hours of the auction conclusion. Accepted forms of payment in Cheddar Up are credit card or e-check. Service charges apply.
How do I collect the items I won during the auction? After the auction is over and payments have been completed, there will be a scheduled contactless pick up of each item with the winner. Please make sure that your email address is correct in Cheddar Up when you complete your payment. Items must be picked up and cannot be mailed.
Questions? Contact the PTO.
Thank you for picking up your Tiger Property Bags!
We started out with over 900 bags....now we have a handful left.

Resources from our Librarians
Our school Librarian, Cathy Seidenberger, with other LTISD elementary district librarians have created a Schoology group which contains books, stories, resources, links, and more in every subject area. Your child has been added as a member of this group.
To reach the library group, after logging into Schoology using your child's login, please click the "GROUPS" tab at the top of the page and select "LTISD Elementary Libraries Online.
Mrs. Seidenberger Releases the West Cypress Summer Reading Program
Be smarter than ever when you read for fun over the summer!
The best way to become a better reader is to spend time reading.
Did you know that when kids don’t read over the summer they are likely to fall behind when they head back to school? These learning losses are often called the “Summer Slide,” and our school has made it a priority to keep our students’ skills sharp by encouraging them to read all summer long. Spending just 20 minutes of reading time each day will make a dramatic difference in your child’s success in the coming school years.
This summer reading packet contains booklists, activities, community library programs, and even an ice cream recipe! We hope you also visit the elementary librarian Schoology group to find additional resources, books, and activities.
Have a great summer, Tigers!
Lake Travis Community Library Book and Media Drops are Open!
The Lake Travis Community Library is now accepting returns of library materials.
- We will continue to wave fines and fees for items currently checked out.
- We are not able to accept donations at this time, so please keep your items at home until we can receive them again.
We are continuing to monitor the current crisis and its impact on our community as we plan and prepare for a safe, phased reopening. Please stay tuned for upcoming information regarding curbside reserve pick up. We appreciate your patience and thank you for your continued support of the library!
More Fun Resources for Tigers from our Lake Travis Community Library
Although the Lake Travis Community Library building is closed at this time, our West Cypress Tigers are not forgotten. Anyone who lives in Texas can get a library card online here, free of charge. If you have questions about the resources available to us while the library building is closed, feel free to contact them by text @ 512-643-2802 or by email.

Student Health Services - Continue Through Friday, May 22!
Monday, March 23, Lake Travis ISD staff began providing free meals to children 0-18 years of age. Packaged breakfast and lunch are available for pickup together between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. at each of our three middle school campuses:
- Bee Cave Middle School - 5400 Vail Divide, Austin, 78738
- Hudson Bend Middle School -15600 Lariat Trail, Austin, 78734
- Lake Travis Middle School - 4932 Bee Creek Road, Spicewood, 78669
Meals are provided through Friday, May 22, in drive-through fashion at the bus drop-off location at each middle school campus. Parents do not need to exit their vehicle.
As of March 26, the US Department of Agriculture allows school districts to serve meals to a parent or guardian without his/her children having to be present in the vehicle. However, there are guidelines parents and guardians must follow. Guided by the USDA, the Texas Department of Agriculture requires the parent or guardian to present validation of their children with any one (1) of the following options:
- Official letter/email/electronic school application from the school listing the indiviudal child's current enrollment
- Report card for each individual child
- Attendance record from parent portal of the school website, printed or electronic, for each individual child
- School ID of each individual child
Please note, hot meals are not provided. Instead, meals consist of packaged cereals, sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, fruit juice, milk and/or water.
While some of you may be eager to volunteer your time and services during our meal pickup, we must keep in mind and adhere to local and state restrictions limiting public gatherings. Our outstanding food service department has this under control. We sincerely appreciate your concern and willingness to help.
For more information, visit the Coronavirus section on the Lake Travis ISD website, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Field Trip Updates
In order to keep our Tigers sheltered safely at home, all of our spring field trips planned for March through May were canceled. Some of our first and fourth graders' families had already paid for their field trips and may, therefore, be concerned about the funds turned in to teachers before we realized that the field trips could not take place.
Please rest assured that we have deposited your payments, have recorded your payments, and have a record of the resulting credit balance of each family.
And, we have plans to ensure that you receive full credit for your payment(s.)
- For students returning to West Cypress Hills Elementary School for the 2020-2021 school year, the credit balance due your family for West Cypress Hills' canceled field trips will be applied toward the purchase price of West Cypress Hills classroom t-shirts and/or field trips that take place during the 2020-2021 school year.
- For students who are not attending West Cypress Hills Elementary School during the 2020-2021 school year, a refund check will be issued to your family by West Cypress Hills Elementary School by the end of the school year. Please complete the WCHE Field Trip Refund Request Form to request your reimbursement check.
Update on Yearbook Deliveries
We understand from the publisher of our yearbooks that their facilities are currently closed. This means that the 2019-2020 yearbooks are not scheduled to be published and delivered to West Cypress Hills until late summer/early fall. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your family.
When the 2019-2020 WCHE yearbooks arrive, we will notify everyone through our Tiger Talk and put a notice on our website. We will ask Rough Hollow Elementary and Lake Travis Middle School to publish notifications, too. Here is our plan for yearbook delivery:
- For Tigers returning to WCHE for the 2020-2021 school year, the 2019-2020 yearbooks will be delivered to them when school is in session next fall.
- For 5th Grade Tigers moving on to middle school, we will have your yearbook delivered to you at your middle school.
- For Tigers who will be RHE Rattlers next year, your yearbook will be delivered to RHE for delivery to you there.
- And, for those who did not order a yearbook but wish to purchase one, the yearbooks will be available for purchase at the front desk of WCHE on a first-come-first-served basis during the 2020-2021 school year.
