AISD Middle Schools Are iReady


This year our school will be using a Mathematics and Reading program called i-Ready to get to know your student and what they know and don’t know, so we can help them on their learning path.

What is i-Ready?

i-Ready is an online program that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready meets your child where they are and provides us with data to inform online instruction. Your child’s teacher monitors their progress and can adjust their learning path and assign specific lessons as needed. Learn more about i-Ready here:

Taking the i-Ready Diagnostic Assessment

Your student will be taking the i-Ready Diagnostic to ensure we have the clearest picture of their current learning needs.

The diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s needs. There are two diagnostics, one for reading and a separate one for math. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning.

What You Need to Know and Do

You’ll be tempted to help on the test. We get it—the i-Ready test is hard. But this test is not for a grade. It helps teachers give your child the best instruction possible.

Think of it this way—would you help your child with a vision test? No, because hints won’t help the eye doctor help them. With i-Ready, hints on the test now could negatively impact your child’s instruction later.
